Mateo Weida: Moderner Worship mit alten Chorälen?!

Mateo Weida ist Musiker und Jugendpfarrer in der Württembergischen Kirche. Gemeinsam mit seinem Pfarrerkollegen Martin Mohns hat er die Band Weida & Mohns gegründet. In den Choral Sessions vertonen sie alte Kirchenlieder auf kreative Art und Weise neu. Wichtig ist ihnen dabei, textlich möglichst nah dran zu bleiben am Original, weil «Choräle die Creme der Kirchengeschichte» sind, wie Mateo Weida erklärt. Stilistisch schätzen sie eine möglichst grosse Vielfalt. Im interessanten Talk auf dem Worship Sofa spricht Mateo Weida mit Susanne Hagen und Carolin Westhoff ausserdem darüber, was ihn bei Worship abtörnt und was Songwriter von alten Chorälen lernen können. Zum Ende des Gesprächs ist das Kyrie-Lied «Ein reines Herz, Herr, schaff in mir» von Weida & Mohns zu hören.
