Author Tom Harwick does a short episode before and after his writing sessions. In the "Before," he discusses his current project, talks about writing in general, and shares selections from his current project or other works; in the "After" episode he goes over how the writing went, talks about editing, and shares some of what he has learned about different writing principles.
Inspired by a very funny idea by my niece Stella, and some funny observations about my pet peeves from my friends, I talk about things in writing that "trigger" me and some that just make me incredibly uncomfortable.
I'm probably going to make a book out of this, so if you have anything in writing (or reading) books that triggers you, please let me know and it might make the book!

Stella the Tiger
In this episode, I do my first interview! My niece joins me to read the children's book we wrote together, talk about other stories she forces me to write, and then she just gets creepy so we end the episode.

Query Letter
In this episode, as in others, I ramble on far too long, overshoot my 30-minute target time by another 30 minutes, and mispronounce several words, turning query into quarry at one point. I also discuss query letters, what they are, their importance, and several tips I've learned in writing them. Then I write a query letter for Cemetery Spade: Zombie Detective.

Editing Day 2 - Mike Baker
In this episode, I finally get around to finishing my friend Baker's story! I cut it from 812 words to 670!
Also, this part has a robot, and I love him.

Editing Session - Mike Baker
In this episode, my poor, trusting, innocent friend Mike Baker gave me a sample of a story he's working on to edit. I discuss the editing process, make a few snarky comments, and hopefully, end with Mike's story (and our friendship) none the worse for wear.

Short Update
Pretty busy today, but I wanted to check in with a quick update. In today's podcast, I'm on a bit of a writing high from yesterday. I talk about finally getting some excitement to write back and whine a little bit about writer problems no one cares about. I promise though, it's a very positive episode.
I also talk about some websites for making custom coffee and tea blends.

Write Before, and Write After - Word Sprints
Today I did something a little different and did three "word sprints" through the day where I wrote as many words as I could in 30 minutes.

Editing Session: A Shot in the Park
For some reason, I was up at four in the morning, so I decided to give you all an inside look at how I tear apart my writing when I edit.

Write After 7/25/20 (but recorded 7/26/20)
So, after a very promising Write Before yesterday, I didn't get anything done, so I had an extra writing session this morning and did a Write After at lunchtime. In this one, I discuss writing habits and the importance of failure.

Write Before - Episode 3
Before my writing session today I talk about a trailer for my first book that ended up eerily prophetic, a funny coincidence from my last podcast, and some changes I might make to the podcast going forward.

Write Before: Episode 2 - The Blank Page
Getting ready for today's writing session I talk about writing fears, including the anxiety of starting a new project, and share my short story "The Blank Page."

Write After: Episode 1
I tell how the writing session went today, and then drone on and on about "show vs. tell" in writing.

Write Before: Episode 1
Before starting today's writing I ramble on about my current project, detectives and zombies, writing and procrastination, half-finished projects, and I manage to mess up a reference to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
