The Global Search for Happiness

When the state or corporations try to replace people, community and tribe as the source of their sense of security, value, usefulness, fun, and play and of course in the attempt fail because of ulterior motives to the welfare of the people and because they simply aren’t people; humans become highly individualistic, hopeless and suspicious of each other which essentially starves them of their only possible source of mental health and happiness.

The data is consistent year after year. The happiest countries on earth are not the wealthiest, they are the most socially connected. They have strong community bonds, universal healthcare, generous parental leave, and shorter working hours that allow people to actually live their lives outside of work.

The six factors the World Happiness Report uses to explain happiness scores are GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption. Of these, social support consistently ranks as the most powerful predictor of national wellbeing, outweighing income in nearly every high-ranking country. The formula is not a secret. Most people just live in countries that have chosen not to follow it.

Sorry about the crazy sound.
