[…] The facility's signature device called a flow-forming machine, which was supposed to smooth and elongate the shells. This was technology that Repcon, the Turkish company, was very proud of. Often cracked the shells beyond repair. Even simple equipment would fail with a kind of slapstick regularity, so conveyor belts would break down. Automated carts would get lost. Pipe exploded, spraying water up to the ceiling. It was also just very unpleasant for the workers to be in this facility a lot of the time because it was extraordinarily hot. There was a number of issues with the facility. The foundations appeared to be shifting or sinking, and that caused a number of problems. […]
