DeNiro Goes Godzilla On Trump, Ken Burns Schools Us, Time To Choose Your Future
You can't call it trolling when you come as big as Robert DeNiro did in front of the New York courthouse where a jury deliberates Donald Trump's fate. He came so big, the Yank is calling it "Going Godzilla."
On the theme of naming things, you call it "The Hush Money, Porn Star Case," but the case properly known as "The People of the State of New York v. Donald J. Trump," is the only Trump case not stalled right now.
Global Warming is sending our wineries North. The Kraut declares German Gewurztraminer worth a sip, finally. The Yank can't say it no matter how hard he tries. Gervertzermeener anyone? How about a Gewurtz? Moderately chilled, not on ice, you gauche American!
Can we take a broad enough view of history, and of the future at the same time, to prevent a civil war. Kurt Vonnegut calls on us to think big in the fourth dimension (The novel Slaughterhouse Five). The Yank and Kraut are also recommending the film, an oldie, The Boys From Brazil. Would you kill a baby Hitler?

Kristi Got Her Gun, Teachers Get 'Em Too
We have a guest in this episode: Brenda Royal, Award Winning Biology Teacher from Tennessee. She responds to Tennessee lawmakers and their vision for a gun in every classroom. They vote to allow Tennessee teachers to carry concealed firearms. The Yank is pretty sure few of us will ever be trained enough to carry a gun in a school setting; teachers rarely have enough time to do their first jobs and will watch Jack Ryan on television but don't want to play him in real life.

Everything might be different. When we recorded this morning, we were waiting to see if Israel would respond to Iran's missile and drone attack. Well, Israel seems to have launched an attack on a radar installation near--wait for it-- Iran's nuclear development site. Is this a kinetic message or the first step in a multi-stage mission? Did we call it?
By the time you hear this, Mike Johnson, the Tenuous Speaker of the House, might be the Former Speaker of the House since Marjorie Taylor Greene vows to oust him if he votes for Ukrainian and Israeli aid on the House Floor, which he vows to do. He'd rather be Churchill than Chamberlain.
Former President Donald Trump is a bad boy in court when he is not sleeping. Will he be held in contempt?
And the Kraut doesn't want to sing along to Neil Diamond songs. (The Kraut can't sing, but the Yank can't either...)

Trump Derangement Syndrome and the Oscars
The Yank would rather talk about the Oscars than politics. The Kraut is still trying to make sense of United States politics. Derangement Syndrome sets in, but for a pleasant and sometimes meaningful distraction from the craziness of American politics, there are must see films, some even recognized, or nominated and snubbed, by the Oscars.
Hear Austin's (the Yank's) Oscar Principles: One, the Oscars is, above all, a television show. Two, the films on the Oscar list are mostly worth seeing. Three, the Academy votes are not scientifically conducted, and therefore are not definitive. And four, the Oscars is not the vehicle for finding or promoting all films of consequence.

Was the special counsels report on Biden politically motivated?
As the presidential election draws closer, the competition for the White House grows more intense. Oddly enough, the topic of discussion is not one of the most pressing domestic topics, such as the continuous influx of refugees on the southern border of the USA, but the age of both candidates.
Recently, there was a report by the Special Counsel on confidential documents that Joe Biden had taken home during his time as vice president. The findings were politically explosive. Although Special Prosecutor Hur concluded that the initial situation did not warrant an indictment, his 300-page report dealt a significant blow to the Democrats. Hur's devastating verdict was that Biden was an elderly man suffering from memory loss.
