Hosted by a history teacher who thinks she's funny sometimes, Yas Queens travels through history, telling the chronological story of the women who had to put up with the men on the throne.
It's time for another Eleanor, but this one is from Spain! Let's learn about Eleanor of Castile, a bookworm who resented England's lack of running water in their palaces. She may be known only through her relationships with her family members, but she was working silently behind the scenes to get what she wanted.

Episode 16: Some Castilian Context
Before we dive into the life and times of Eleanor of Castile, wife of Edward I AKA Ya Boi Longshanks, let's get a little context on the world of women in which she grew up. EC was also a descendant of Eleanor of Aquitaine through her daughter... also named Eleanor. We'll learn more about this great-grandma Eleanor AKA Leonor, her daughter Berenguela, and why you should look out for falling tiles.
This bonus episode contains a remastered excerpt from a Patreon bonus episode. To hear about Leonor's sisters Matilda and Joanna in the same episode, check out our Patreon for the full original version!

Episode 9: The Four Sisters of Provence, Part 1
Welcome to first part of our 4 part mini-series on Eleanor of Provence and her three sisters, all of which would become queens. The Provencal family, and their relatives from Savoy had too much power, and did far too much scheming for me to just give them a single episode. We'll introduce the family-- eldest sisters Marguerite and Eleanor, as well as their queenmaker uncles, the Eagles of Savoy.
Patrons will get early access to the next 3 episodes, I will be adding them on Patreon every week for the next month, while non-subscribers will only get a new episode every other week.
