Episode 13: Machine Gun Kelly - Don't Shoot, G-Men!
<p>Machine Gun Kelly might be a pop-punk and rapper in the 21st century, but during the 1930s, another man donned this pseudonym. During the 1930s, or ‘dirty-thirties,’ if I may, George Kelly Francis Barnes jr was the man behind the Machine Gun Kelly moniker. Today, he is remembered and referenced as a gangster and kidnapper, active during Prohibition and the beginnings of the Great Depression. Alongside names like Charles “Pretty Boy” Floyd, “Baby Face” Nelson, and Bonnie [Parker] and Clyde [Barrow], Machine Gun Kelly is remembered as one of the criminals making waves in the midwestern United States during the dirty thirties. </p><p>Was Machine Gun Kelly really the original gangster, or has time twisted this tail into more than it ever was?
