<h2>5 kinds of Mind</h2> <p>Vyasa’s commentary on <strong>yoga sutra 1-1,</strong> he said, yoga is Samadhi (contemplation). Samadhi is a key characteristic of Chitta which pervades in all 5 states of mind at any given time. Vyasa called 5 kinds as 5 Bhumi of Chitta in his commentary.</p> <ol> <li><strong>Kshipta – </strong>Chaotic or most fickle state of mind</li> <li><strong>Mudha – </strong>Dull or Lazy state of mind</li> <li><strong>Vikshipta – </strong>Partially focused mind</li> <li><strong>Ekagra – </strong>One-pointed mind</li> <li><strong>Niruddha – </strong>Fully absorbed mind</li> </ol> <p><strong>वृत्तयः पञ्चतय्यः क्लिष्टाऽक्लिष्टाश्चः॥५॥</strong></p> <p><strong>Vṛttayaḥ pañcatayyaḥ kliṣṭāakliṣṭāśca</strong></p> <p><strong>The thought-streams are five-fold, painful / with anguish and not painful or without anguish.</strong></p> <p><strong>प्रमाणविपर्ययविकल्पनिद्रास्मृतयः॥६॥</strong></p> <p><strong>Pramāṇaviparyayavikalpanidrāsmṛtayaḥ</strong></p> <p><strong>Right knowledge, wrong knowledge, Illusionary or Imaginary knowledge, sleep and memory. </strong></p> <p><strong>In next episode I will explain each faculty in detail. </strong></p> <p><strong>Namaste.</strong></p>
