Exploring Feelings as Body Sensations

This is a yoga nidra practice for deepening your awareness of body sensations and their relationship to emotions. This awareness can inform not only the way you express feelings musically, but also the way you experience and process your emotions in day-to-day life.

Buddhist philosophy considers us to have six senses: seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, and then also the feeling body, and the thinking mind. The concept is that it is the body that feels, and emotions are equated with body sensations. I find this a very useful model for working with emotions in both life and art.

CW: This episode is designed to evoke a variety of emotions within you, in order to explore and work with them. Be aware that some intense feelings may arise for you at moments throughout this practice, and be sure to continue breathing fully throughout.

Please subscribe to my email list to receive an alert whenever a new episode becomes available.

Explore & Expand Your Breathing Possibilities

This is a yoga nidra meditation to raise your awareness of your breathing anatomy—how it moves, how it feels, and how it functions.

Your body knows how to breathe. It breathes for you when you are awake and asleep, when you are paying attention to it and when you are not. The deeper your connection to your breath, the more profoundly your breathing will support your vocal expression.

Please subscribe to my email list to receive an alert whenever a new episode becomes available.

Performance Confidence

This is a yoga nidra meditation to deepen your connection with the source of your creativity, and to enhance your experience of making music with and for others.

I find that engaging in strategies to enhance performance confidence is more effective and enjoyable than combatting performance anxiety. By focusing on what you desire to express and the listeners with whom you most want to share your singing, you will build your confidence and satisfaction in performance, and your anxious thoughts and impulses will gradually become less invasive.

Please subscribe to my email list to receive an alert whenever a new episode becomes available.
