Welcome to Yoga Unplugged Conversations A podcast dedicated to helping you grow, thrive and gracefully make tough life decisions, so you can lead a happier, healthier life. Host Sarah Burchard (https://www.sarahburchard.com/) invites special guests on the show to deep dive into real life issues, providing tools and philosophies to help you navigate them with greater ease. Sarah is a yogi, freelance writer, natural foods chef and certified health coach passionate about self-development, yoga and promoting local businesses and food through her writing, farmers market tours and farm-to-table events under the name, The Healthy Locavore. In today’s final episode of Yoga Unplugged Conversations I’m talking to Darity Wesley. Darity is the author of “How To Be The Real You,” “You Can Transform Your Life,” and the eBook “Tame That Monkey Mind.” As a self-proclaimed “Death Diva” she helps her clients put death into perspective, so they can make peace with it in their lives, and has mastered the art of caring for loved ones in their final days. Darity has dedicated her life to helping others navigate tough life challenges, so that they can live a more peaceful life, full of faith, confidence and acceptance. Today Darity and I are discussing Death. We talk about… ● How she has helped loved ones prepare to die ● Why she doesn’t fear death ● The 5 stages of grieving ● The way she copes with loss ● The bright side of death What if instead of trying to avoid death we allowed ourselves to grieve it fully and get comfortable with the inevitable, so that we can welcome it into our lives with grace? What if death became not scary at all? We explore this and more in today's final episode of Yoga Unplugged Conversations. It has been a joy, an honor and a dream come true to host this show for you. I hope it has helped bring clarity and comfort to your life. I know it has for me. Thank you so much for listening to the show this past year. In today’s episode I’m talking to Jessica Rohr. Jess is the owner of Forage Hawaii. As a distributer of local wild, invasive, and naturally raised meats, she provides her customers with a responsible protein source; is an advocate for Hawaiʻi’s local meat industry; and supports a more sustainable food system that is healthier for us and the environment and is more accessible to everyone. Jess has a powerful story when it comes to her life’s journey with food. Beyond her personal experiences, she also majored in dietetics at the University of Hawaiʻi and has spent countless years studying numerous diets, nutrients, and eating disorders as well as industrial farming versus natural farming and the politics of food, so that she could establish a healthier relationship to food and help others do the same. Today Jess and I are discussing the many ways food affects our behavior and how we can have a healthier relationship to it. We talk about… ● Our life struggles with food ● Why she developed an eating disorder in college ● How she went from being a vegetarian to becoming a meat distributer ● The theory behind Mindful Eating ● The way she approaches her diet now ● Why we shop at the Farmers Market instead of the grocery store ● What she suggests for anyone struggling with food related issues If you’ve ever had an eating disorder, were raised to finish everything on your plate, eat too fast, overeat, moralize your food, have a sugar addiction, persist in yo-yo dieting, obsess over calories, restrict your food, think carbs are evil, or have any other number of food related issues, please give this show a listen. You don’t need another diet. You need a healthier relationship to your food. - Follow Jessica Rohr: ● Website (http://www.foragehawaii.com/) ● Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/foragehawaii/) ● Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/foragehawaii/) ● Newsletter (http://www.foragehawaii.com/home.html) Links discussed on the show: ● Foodist: Using Real Food and Real Science to Lose Weight Without Dieting (https://www.amazon.com/Foodist-Darya-Pino-Rose-audiobook/dp/B00ENOAZ36/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?dchild=1&keywords=%E2%97%8F+Foodist+by+Darya+Rose+PhD&qid=1596851429&sr=8-1-fkmr0) by Darya Rose PhD ● The Foodist Podcast (https://summertomato.com/podcast/) ● Foodist Kitchen (https://foodistkitchen.com/) ● The Mindful Meal Challenge (https://www.mindfulmealchallenge.com/) ● Bruce Lipton (https://www.brucelipton.com/books) ● Darity Wesley (https://daritywesley.com/) ● Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal (https://www.amazon.com/Fast-Food-Nation-Dark-All-American/dp/0395977894/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1596851520&sr=1-1) by Eric Schlosser ● Know Your Fats: The Complete Primer for Understand the Nutrition of Fats, Oils and Cholesterol (https://www.amazon.com/Know-Your-Fats-Understanding-Cholesterol/dp/0967812607/ref=sr_1_2?crid=YIZFCV9O9HVH&dchild=1&keywords=know+your+fats&qid=1596851650&s=books&sprefix=know+your+fats%2Cstripbooks%2C292&sr=1-2) by Mary G.
