Pt. 2 Diversity in Entertainment: with Sloane Warren

Hello Culture Keepers, this is Deborah Axé from You Are A Culture Keeper Podcast. This is Part 2 of our talk today with Sloane Warren. She is an energy healer, manifestation coach and Qigong instructor along with her decades long career in Neuromuscular therapy. Sloane is also a multi hyphenate storyteller, where she has worked both in front and behind the camera for decades. She often co-mingles both industries as she guides entertainment industry professionals on their journeys to manifest what they want in their careers. Most recently, she even had a storyteller manifest an Oscar nomination within 9 days of their session with Sloane! Sloane truly believes that abundance is everyone’s birthright and roadblocks are merely stepping stones to higher consciousness and growth. What I love about this conversation is that we both share our favorite storytellers in the entertainment industry who are representing women, LatinX, BIPOC, and trans communities. These will all be listed in the show notes. We share our vulnerability with something we have each dealt with. I talk about how we lost our family member, Carlos Fernandez to the hands of the Santa Rosa CA, police department. His case was taken to the Supreme Court by the ACLU in an anti-taser lawsuit. https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2005/08/10/aclu-begins-investigation-of-deaths-linked-to-stun-guns/ In light of the heartbreaking news in Buffalo and Texas, I am researching and (with every episode) am sharing resources on gun control, gun reform, wellness, and community mobilizing. It is time for our country to take a stand to protect our children and all people. According to the BBC, “There were 1.5 million [Firearms deaths in the US] between 1968 and 2017 - that's higher than the number of soldiers killed in every US conflict since the American War for Independence in 1775. In 2020 alone, more than 45,000 Americans died at the end of a barrel of a gun, whether by homicide or suicide, more than any other year on record. The figure represents a 25% increase from five years prior, and a 43% increase from 2010.” Guess which country has the most firearms per capita in the world? The US with over 120 firearms for every 100 residents. Guess who rates second in the world? -Yemen with less than half at 52.8 firearms for every 100 residents. Guess who doesn’t make the top 10 in the world? Mexico! Guess who does, Canada with 34.7 firearms per 100 residents. So why the fascination with a wall again, dear politicians? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41488081 (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41488081) A Boston University article, full of 25 years of national statistics on gun reform impact, exposes the % of crime reduction after gun reform laws are in place. Pt. 2 LatinX Love: Dancing Our Ancestors with Kebrina Josefina De Jesus

Hey Culture Keepers! This is your humble host of You Are A Culture Keeper Podcast, Deborah Axé. Before we introduce our amazing guest, Kebrina Josefina De Jesus, we have exciting news! We are growing and looking for one more person to join our team as Social Media and Web Design Guru, so please reach out on Instagram: @you.are.a.culture.keeper We would love someone who is multi-lingual and we give priority to folkx who are in BIPOC and LGBTQI+ community. Multiple languages are awesome! Must have excellent spelling and attention to detail. No degree necessary, just have talent and tenacity. Prior experience managing internationally successful podcasts preferred, but not a must if you are 100% ready to Go Big with us! We are a self care oriented crew, and want team members who have great self care practices, clear, tactful boundaries and know how to calm themselves down if they are stressed. This last part is huge. We are always growing and happy to share techniques, but please have a solid base of self care, 'cause this world is Cray Cray! We have huge plans for this podcast, including a book launch of Recipe For Disaster: A Comedic Dating Cookbook, original music, events, and workshops. Sharing your Clifton Strengths assessment is helpful so we choose a well rounded team. All are encouraged to apply and we welcome referrals if you know just the right person! ________________________________________________ Many listeners know that I have a private practice as a trilingual Music Coach. But June 2022, I’ll be teaching my special Move Your Voice workshop at Phoenix Rising Festival in the California Desert. I integrate the teachings of Caroline Myss, Joe Dispenza and Isabelle Tierney, to raise awareness about the types of energy we use when speaking or singing. We will do this by including emotional regulation techniques, and neuroscience in our vocal warm ups that will profoundly change your relationship to stress and well-being. So you may think we are singing, but you will learn so much more! It’s free with entry to the festival. We explore the voice from a multi-cultural perspective, using body based singing methodology. Most vocal teachers use belle canto or European Based training to tame the wildness out of our voice, resulting in a circus dog style that can do tricks, but not emote in an authentic way. Instead, we honor my teachers from around the globe, with a fusion of singing techniques from Mexico, Spain, India, West and North Africa, Brazil, and the Middle East. You may dm me on our IG @you.are.a.culture.keeper for more info about this private festival. Promo code for your discount is YAACK short for… You Are A Culture Keeper.
