Single Dad Podcast: Pets, Allergies, Co-Parenting Challenges

Hey everyone, welcome back! It's been a little while, and as you might hear, I'm finally recording from my home studio again. So the quality should be a lot better this time <3

Life threw a bit of a curveball recently – my co-parent got sick, which meant I've had my daughter for much longer than planned. In the past, this kind of disruption would have totally thrown me off, maybe even made me resentful about missed podcasting time. But this time? Something's different. I talk about that shift, about learning to stay in the flow and embrace the present moment with my daughter, something I think many of us single parents are constantly working on.

And speaking of embracing things... I did something pretty major. Something maybe a bit rebellious, considering my daughter's allergies and, well, what my ex and current girlfriend think! We got pets. Specifically, two budgies. I dive into the why behind that decision, the terror I feel about the noise (I love silence!), but also why I think these little social creatures might be exactly what my daughter needs right now.

This episode gets real about the dynamics of co-parenting – the frustrations, the necessity, and how we have to make it work, even when it's tough. Plus, some thoughts on pets for kids in general – the pros, the cons (why dogs are tough for apartment life!), and navigating those tricky allergy situations.

It's a catch-up episode, a reflection on growth, and a story about welcoming some feathered chaos into our lives. Hope you can relate. Stick around, and let me know what you think!

Also listen to my other podcast: cMonkX Show - freeform Monologue podcast about everything (not just parenting)

Chaptermarks:

(00:00) Welcome Back & Recording From Home

(00:54) Catching Up: Why the Delay (Co-Parenting Curveballs)

(02:23) Finding Flow: A Single Dad's Mindset Shift

(08:35) The Budgie Bombshell: Why I Bought Birds (and the fallout)

(11:58) Co-Parenting Realities: Why We Need Each Other

(12:42) Pets, Kids, and Practicalities (Dogs, Cats, Budgies & German Rules)

(15:49) Closing Thoughts & Next Episode Tease
