[…] And that version is worth hating. But that's not what organizational politics actually is. I mean, underneath it, politics is simply the informal way to really get things done. It's the way things get decided. You know, who talks to whom, whose buy-in you need before something can move along, how influence actually flows through a place. That's politics. And that map of how influence flows almost never looks exactly what the org chart on the wall portrays. Mm hmm. And when you put it that way, I don't play politics starts to sound less like a virtue and more like I don't really pay attention to how decisions actually get made around here, which you can choose to do that, but it's not neutral and it's not necessarily virtuous.
