You're Gonna Be Great! | What Happens When the Life You Built No Longer Fits? | Chule Gobodo

We've all been in the in-between, and we'll all be there again.

So what happens when you realize the life you've built is no longer the life you're meant to live? How do you navigate those changes? Will everything be okay, even when it feels like you're falling apart?

In this episode of You're Gonna Be Great! I sit down with one of my good friends, artist, filmmaker, and storyteller Chule Gobodo, for an honest conversation about identity, becoming, grief, and the courage to evolve.

We first met nearly years ago as graduate students living together in Italy, both trying to figure out what we wanted to do with our lives. Since then, Chule has built an extraordinary creative career in South Africa, co-founding Brainbow Productions, championing inclusive storytelling, and becoming a powerful voice for self-love through her work as The Love Activist.

But when she made the difficult decision to walk away from the company she spent fifteen years building, she found herself in a question so many people eventually face: Who am I when the thing I've built no longer defines me?

Together, we chat about:

• Growing up in South Africa during the transition out of apartheid

• The unexpected freedom of living abroad and reinventing yourself

• Creativity, identity, and why artists often live between worlds

• Building and ultimately letting go of Brainbow Productions

• The grief of ending a chapter you've loved

• Why failure isn't the opposite of success, but part of becoming

• Ubuntu, self-love, and finding your way back to yourself

• Motherhood, perimenopause, and navigating multiple life transitions at once

This is a conversation about liminal spaces, the messy middle, and learning that rebuilding isn't failure. Sometimes it's the bravest thing you'll ever do.

If you're standing at the edge of a new chapter, wondering whether you have what it takes to start over, this episode is for you.
