Emily Proud: CBS Sports and 24/7 Sports anchor on creating her own path, D1 athletics, and living authentically
<p>Emily Proud was a four-year D1 student-athlete on the women's soccer team at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, majoring in Journalism and wrote for the Belmont Vision, the school's newspaper. She then went on to work as a sports anchor at a Knoxville ABC News affiliate covering all sports for the University of Tennessee before moving back to Nashville to work for WKRN as a sports and weekend news anchor. She's currently the anchor and host at CBS Sports and 24/7 Sports, where she talks all things football, basketball, and college recruiting. Lauren Rosen: NBA team reporter for the 76ers on her journey with self-confidence, owning your space, and looking the part
<p>Lauren Rosen was a four-year cheerleader at Duke University where she worked as a production runner for ESPN and was first introduced to high-level basketball. She then went on to get her Master's in Journalism at Northwestern University before working her way up to team reporter for the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers. She co-hosts The Big Niang Theory Podcast with Georges Niang, writes stories for the 76ers website, and conducts pre, post, and mid-game interviews with 76ers players. We get into all things self-confidence, online trolls, being judged for her appearance, and not being taken seriously as a woman working in men's sports. Courtney Cox: Working at ESPN, covering women's basketball in Russia, & sports media academia
<p>Dr. Courney Cox is an assistant professor in the Department of Media and Cinema Studies at the University of Illinois, where she focuses on the relationship between gender and sports. She worked as a production assistant at ESPN's Bristol, CT headquarters before getting her Master's in Journalism at the University of Texas. She then worked for the WNBA's LA Sparks, an NPR affiliate in Pasadena, CA, and completed her Ph.D. at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School. Her dissertation took her internationally as she traveled to France and Russia to study labor and women's professional basketball. She then became an assistant professor at the University of Oregon and is currently an assistant professor at Illinois.
