In my personal situation, I was blessed to have older children to help after giving birth. If you don't have that benefit, who will help the new mom who's caring for a new tiny human?
The postpartum period isn't a time to ignore or leave the new family alone. There is still a lot that can be done to support them as they become acclimated to their new family.
