Die Hard, 1988
@YFFMPodcast The 1988 movie, Die Hard. "40 stories of sheer adventure!" Come out to the coast, get together, and have a few laughs with Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman, Bonnie Bedelia, Reginald VelJohnson, and Paul Gleason. For this year's holiday episode, we encourage you to kick back, relax, take off your shoes and curl your toes into fists on the carpet as you watch this stress-packed, explosive action (or should we say Christmas) movie classic. This week the crew breaks down how Bruce Willis made the gravity defying leap, without the assistance of a fire hose we might add, from television to the silver screen, what exactly does Yipee-Ki-yay mean, mother fucker? and how much of the budget went to hearing aids for the cast and crew after suffering permanent hearing loss from "shooting" this movie? All we can say is, if this is their idea of Christmas, we gotta be here for New Years! Directed by John McTiernan. Written by Jeb Stuart & Steven E. de Souza. Police Story, 1985
@YFFMPodcast The 1985 movie, Police Story. "From the master of action comes more screen excitement than you've ever seen." Clear your good name by taking your boss hostage at gunpoint with Jackie Chan, Maggie Cheung, Brigitte Lin, Yuen Chor, and Bill Tung. So you think you know Jackie Chan?? Think again, idiot. Unless of course you've seen this classic Hong Kong legendary piece of cinema, in which case you're cool. Join the YFFM gang as we break down the crazy stunts in this movie and just how many injuries they were responsible. Put your bets down now for how many vertebras Jackie Chan broke during this movie. Under Siege, 1992
@YFFMPodcast The 1992 movie, Under Siege. "In 1992 a battleship's been sabotaged by nuclear pirates out to steal its warheads. Now, surrounded by terrorists, a lone man stands with a deadly plan of attack." Take those pies out of the oven and save Honolulu from nuclear annihilation with Steven Seagal, Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Busey, Erika Eleniak, Colm Meaney and Patrick O'Neal. This week the gang covers action hero, martial arts master, and real law enforcement agent, Steven Seagal's most successful movie. What is it that makes this action star so cool yet so cringey? Why does his accent change in every scene? and why has he only been making straight to video action movies for the last 22 years? Do you have an opinion about nuclear weapons? Any opinion at all! If so, then that makes you the target demographic for this highly "sophisticated" movie, according to Director, Andrew Davis. But enough of that babbling bullshit.. press play and enjoy! The Lost Boys, 1987
@YFFMPodcast The 1987 movie, The Lost Boys "Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire." Jump in the family van for a trip out to Santa Carla (the murder capitol of the world) with Keifer Sutherland, Jason Patric, Jami Gertz, Dianne Wiest, and Edward Herrmann. For this spooky season episode we enter the world of vampires AKA the only sexy movie monster.. sorry Frankenstein. Speaking of vampires.. did we mention this movie is bat-shit crazy? Join the gang with special guests (who also happen to be screenwriters) Kelsey and Hannah as we break down how this originally intended children's adventure movie turned into the sexualized blood-thirsty 1980's horror icon that it is, and how do the frog brothers play into all of this? The Thing, 1982
@YFFMPodcast The 1982 movie, The Thing. "Man is the warmest place to hide." Grab your favorite whiskey and spend an Antarctic winter one thousand miles from no where with Kurt Russel, Keith David, A. Wilford Brimley, Donald Moffat, and David Clennon. In this episode we kick off spooky season with the psychological terror movie of the 80's in which no one can be trusted.. not even your dog. Grab a glass of whiskey and watch some of the best "valmorphication" ever put to the screen. If there's one thing that this film's budget breakdown tells us, it's clear the real star of this movie is its practical effects.. sorry Kurt Russel. This is a great movie to put on, tie you and your friends to the couch and.. see what happens. Directed by John Carpenter. Written by Bill Lancaster. RoboCop, 1987
@YFFMPodcast The 1987 movie, RoboCop. "Part man. Part Machine. All cop." Keep crime off the streets of Detroit, and corruption out of 15 story boardrooms with Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Kurtwood Smith, Ronny Cox, and Michael Ferrer. This episode we are joined by *actual human police officer* Ryan to give some fresh takes on this 80's classic. We get to ask him hot takes on the realism of this absurdist action flick, like.. is it police protocol to dual wield pistols out the window of a police car while you're chasing a suspect? How close are police units to having co-ed locker rooms? and how many windows is appropriate for throwing a non-compliant suspect through? All in the YFFM crew is in agreement about this "So good, it's good" satirical Reagan-era reaction to corporate greed and automation, that also just plain kicks ass. Now who wouldn't buy that for a dollar?! Directed by Paul Verhoeven. Written by Edward Neumeier & Michael Miner. Find out just how much harm could ever come from reading a book with Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, Arnold Vosloo, John Hannah, Kevin J. O'Connor, and Jonathan Hyde. A librarian nerd-girl and an ex-con treasure-hunter bad-boy team up, with a surprisingly potent degree of sexual chemistry I might add, for the adventure of a lifetime; reviving a dead ancient Egyptian adulterer who is bent on destroying the entire world just to get some 3,000 year old strange. YFFM tackles the important questions like does this movie qualify as "father's" material?
