Joseph "Joey Barlow, Kayla Goodall, and Felicia Fleming
This week on Your Honor, We’re New Here, Kayla, Felicia, and Joey talk about one of the hardest lessons new attorneys learn: managing client expectations. From car wrecks and property damage complaints to slip-and-fall confusion and “I saw this on TV” moments, the trio gets real about the emotional side of personal injury law.
They share their stories, unpack why “fair market value” isn’t a personal attack, and talk about when it’s time to stop explaining and start setting boundaries. It’s an honest, funny, and painfully relatable look at the part of law school no one prepared you for.
Disclaimer: Not legal advice. Just a few lawyers trying to keep calm, set boundaries, and survive the turbulence.

Big Firm Energy vs. Small Firm Tenacity
This week on Your Honor, We’re New Here, Kayla, Felicia, and Joey unpack the real differences between life at a big firm and life at a small one, and why both have their perks (and pain points). From the structure and resources of large firms to the flexibility and personal touch of smaller practices, they dive into what it’s really like to find your footing on either side of the legal world.
They compare structure versus flexibility, delegation versus doing it yourself, and how the size of your firm can shape your entire experience as a new attorney. Whether you thrive on collaboration or independence, this one’s for anyone figuring out where they fit in the profession.
Disclaimer: Not legal advice. Just a few lawyers figuring it out like everyone else.

We Were on a Break... BUT We’re Back
We’re back! After what we’re calling a - brief and totally strategic - break, the Your Honor, We’re New Here crew returns with plenty to rant (and laugh) about. Between Birmingham traffic, possibly knowing Bill and his tractor, and police reports that might as well be fan fiction, Kayla, Joey, and Felicia dive into the real-life headaches of being new attorneys in Alabama.
They swap horror stories about wrong insurance info and the absurdity of mailing a $1.50 check just to get a crash report. Plus: MapQuest nostalgia, unpaid phone consults that never end, and why you should never give your personal number to someone who “just has a quick legal question.”
It’s equal parts vent session and group therapy, fueled by caffeine, sarcasm, and questionable GPS directions.
Disclaimer: Not legal advice. Just lawyers trying to find north on Google Maps and maybe a little peace of mind.
