   E17 Princess Mononoke

Episode Notes More cartoons? Say it ain't so. Sorry, it is so. Maybe this time, Derek will actually enjoy an anime. We turn to the master, Hayao Miyazake, and (in Dave's opinion) his absolute masterpiece, PRINCESS MONONOKE. Will liberal ideals, beautiful visuals, and a perfect story be enough to satisfy Derek, the grump? Listen and find out! Follow us on Twitter! E15 Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song

Episode Notes On this episode, we start off attempting to bring some class to the podcast, by featuring a movie from the Criterion Collection. Little did Derek realize, this is not exactly a family film. We discuss fatherhood, sexuality, toxic masculinity, and Black power. But like, in a fun way. Follow us on Twitter! E14 Guess Who's Coming To Dinner

Episode Notes At the start of a marathon recording session, Derek makes Dave think about interracial relationships back in the 1960's. Among other topics, we discuss Derek's relationships with white women, the danger of the white liberal, and standard gender binaries about love and logic. Take a listen to a podcast on a movie that Derek watches every chance he gets. Follow us on Twitter! (http://www.twitter.com/yourlistpod) Look at the pretty pictures on Instagram! E13 Hoop Dreams

Wait, no delays? That's right, baby and this is a good one. Dave finally gets Derek to watch a movie that has been in his to watch pile for damn near 20 years. We talk race, poverty, privilege, and a bit about colorism. But we still have a good time and make fun of each other. As per usual. Follow us on Twitter! E12 Broadcast News

Once again, we took a good, long break. It's Derek's fault. I'm not sure how, but just go with me on this one. In this episode, Derek picks a certified (by Criterion) classic off of Dave's list. We talk news movies, romance, simping, and how real life sometimes intrudes on our enjoyment of art. Follow us on Twitter! E11 Murder on the Orient Express (1974)

I know, I know, excuses, excuses. But we're back! Hopefully for good this time, but no promises. In this episode, Dave picks a movie at random from Derek's list and ends up with MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS from 1974. We talk for quite a long time about this movie; including talk on remakes, endings, mysteries, unfortunate racial comments, and even biblical puns. We're not sorry. Follow us on Twitter! Cinema Paradiso

We took a break (sorry!), but we have returned with a gift. Enjoy an episode on a movie that we have both seen and that you should, CINEMA PARADISO! E10 The English Patient

We are back again for a treasured classic. Treasured unless you are Elaine Benes from Seinfeld (a show Derek has never watched). We talk all things romance and longing with THE ENGLISH PATIENT. Derek sides with anyone who isn't white and rails against the punishment of white women in caves. Dave basically just cries. Enjoy! Follow us on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/yourlistpod)! E9 House

We have finally returned! (It is all Derek's fault.) But regardless, we are back to talk about a Criterion classic, HOUSE! (or HAUSU if you're nasty.). We take a close look at the horror comedy and try our best to tease apart comparisons to Nightmare on Elm Street, ass eating, Hiroshima, and Derek's fascination with barely legal Japanese women. All in a half hour. Enjoy! Follow us on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/yourlistpod)! Look at the pretty pictures on Instagram (http://www.instagram.com/yourlistpod)! E8 Bottle Rocket

Bottle Rocket We are back with a much easier film to figure out, BOTTLE ROCKET. Derek accuses Dave of being just like these characters, which frankly stinks of discrimination. But we move on pretty quickly to denigrating Wes Anderson and wishing that he never made any money. We also talk about the very different careers of the two Wilson brothers and determine just how annoying Dave would be if he had watched this movie as a teenager. Derek actually sat through this white nonsense and liked it??? Follow us on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/yourlistpod))! E7 Mirror

Mirror Well here we are, the real Criterion of it all. Derek and Dave do their best to do justice to supposedly one of the greatest films ever made. They talk the pressures of talking about it, relationships with mothers, and films that stick with them. Even if you haven't seen this one, this episode is worth listening to, we promise! E6 Giant

This episode is Derek's revenge! After Dave made him sit through the two hours and change of RAN, he strikes back with the aptly named GIANT! Derek loses his mind (again) about LIz Taylor, and they talk James Dean as the weak link, the scope, and if the United Colors of Benetton ending still works. Check it out! E5 Ran

Hello again! This episode was delayed because whoever the idiot is that edits these, forgot to post it! But anyway, in this episode, Dave makes Derek watch a true classic, Akira Kurosawa's RAN! Listen as Derek backpedals and apologizes for ever impugning Dave's taste in earlier episodes. Finally, the scales are even. (This means Derek liked Ran). We talk Kentucky's terrible education system, Shakespeare adaptations, and the importance of fools. Enjoy! This podcast is powered by Pinecast (https://pinecast.com).

    E4 The Stepford Wives (1975)

We return once again, this time to watch a movie Dave has never seen. Derek is in disbelief, but Dave has never seen THE STEPFORD WIVES. Weirdly, he has seen the remake but not the original. Dave struggles with the direction of the film, but overall digs it. He may go a little overboard on the political side of things, but he stands by the fact that if you think horror isn't political, you should try again. Derek foolishly allows Dave to keep talking, but joins in to discuss feminism and reveal some things about his childhood. It doesn't sound like it, but we had fun! Follow us on Twitter! E3 Akira

Disappointed Derek Well, Derek was really excited to finally watch AKIRA! Unfortunately, this did not go well. Dave and Derek talk a lot about how difficult it is to watch movies meant for different times and ages. We also wander around a bit and touch on a bunch of topics; including body horror, Dragonball Z, annoying white nerds, and whether or not a movie even needs a plot if it's cool enough. E2 Sex, Lies, and Videotape

More Commas We continue with movies with too many commas and talk SEX, LIES, AND VIDEOTAPE. We discuss the relative sexiness of James Spader, including his hair to body mass comparison. And, of course, we disagree on which sister is better. On a smarter level, we also discuss therapy in movies, psychoanalyze Steven Soderbergh, and detail what we can expect out of relationships. E1 The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover

The Journey Begins We have finally arrived with our very first episode. In this one, Dave picks one of his favorites off of poor Derek's List. In THE COOK, THE THIEF, HIS WIFE, AND HER LOVER we take a look at the ridiculously hard to find film from Peter Greenaway. We talk the difference between respecting and liking a movie, sexual deviance, Helen Mirren, Dave's fashion sense, and, of course, cannibalism. Watch this on Peacock (of all places) and join us for this spoiler heavy discussion. Follow us on Twitter! (http://www.twitter.com/yourlistpod) Look at the pretty pictures on Instagram!
