The Detroit Occult Murders: Part Two!
A strange series of events plagued Detroit in the early 20th century and were widely publicized as "Occult" or "Voodoo" murders but does that have anything to do with reality? In Part Two, the weirdness continues. A so called "cult leader" murders one of his members in a religious sacrificial ceremony... or did he? And a whole immigrant family is brutally massacred inside their own home and no one knows why... did it have something to do with the dark magic practiced by a self-proclaimed cult leader? We explore these stories today on Your Mom is a Creep the podcast! WANT TO KNOW MORE? Research and references for todays tale... The Detroit Occult Murders: Part One!
A strange series of events plagued Detroit in the early 20th century and were widely publicized as "Occult" or "Voodoo" murders but does that have anything to do with reality? In this episode, part one of three in a series, I am going to tell you and my husband Dave about the Witch of Delray and her "house of funerals." These stories have everything weird under the sun. Cults! Witches! Werewolves! Beheading! The evil eye! It is almost too much for my creepy heart to take. It is also a fascinating glimpse into the history of a major American industrial hub and the melting pot of humans that called it home. As truly American as a tale can be, I hope you like this episode and I hope you'll come back to hear all three trippy tales of the Detroit Occult Murders! WANT TO KNOW MORE? The Inexplicable Murder of Adrienne Shelly
On this episode of Your Mom is a Creep we’re talking about the murder of beautiful and charismatic actress/writer/director Adrienne Shelly in New York City in 2007. I also spend an uncharacteristic amount of time talking about personal stuff before I get to the meat of the podcast. If you want to skip hearing me talk about my life, my back pain, my weird depression strategy where I pretend to be 3 different people, and my obsession with synchronicity please go directly to the actual crime at 23:40! Either way, let’s dig in… (p.s. If you need to know more about what it is to be a creepy mom and who gets to fly that flag, please check out episode one of Your Mom is a Creep called “What is a creepy mom?”) Supplemental Links for todays episode...NYT article on SentencingAndy Ostoy's 2016 NYT articleDiego Pillco MurderpediaInterview with Adrienne herself re: Inspiration Find me on Social MediaInstagram: yourmomisacreepTwitter: yourmomisacreepEmail me: yourmomisacreep@gmail.com Creepy mom out xx

America's Stonehenge
Your Mom is a Creep Episode 7: America’s Stonehenge What is America’s Stonehenge, also known to some as Mystery Hill? It is a huge maze of stone chambers, walls, and large standing stones. The people who built it had an intimate understanding of astronomy as well as stone construction. It is an accurate astronomical calendar that plots many solar and lunar events such as solstices and equinoxes as well as many ancient holidays. No one is sure who built it or why. It draws in pagans, paranormal investigators, mystery enthusiasts, archeologists, and historical enthusiasts. It could be the oldest man made structure in the United States. It has spiritual significance for some and for others it is a puzzle to be solved or a hoax to be debunked. Johnny Frank Garrett and The Halloween Night Murder of Sister Tadea Benz
Let's dig in to the wrongful conviction of mentally handicapped teenager Johnny Frank Garrett for the murder of Sister Tadea Benz on Halloween in 1981. After a series of attacks on elderly church ladies in Amarillo, Texas the police department arrests a tragic underage victim of childhood abuse suffering from traumatic brain injuries... all because a psychic told them she dreamt of his "Abe Lincoln face." It starts weird and never turns back in this criminal tale of prejudice, ambition, injustice, and evil. Happy Halloween! follow me on social mediaInstagram @yourmomisacreepTwitter @yourmomisacreepxx
