Superhero Fatigue Isn’t Real — Bad Writing Is
Is superhero fatigue actually real… or are audiences just tired of lazy storytelling?
In this episode of Your Nerdy Girlfriend Podcast, we break down why the superhero genre isn’t dying — it’s suffering from overreliance on CGI, weak emotional stakes, and multiverse shortcuts.
From the emotional weight of The Dark Knight to the nostalgia-driven spectacle of Spider-Man: No Way Home, we’ve seen what happens when superhero movies get it right.
So why do some recent releases feel hollow?
We discuss:
• Why CGI-heavy final battles feel weightless
• How the lack of lasting consequences lowers emotional investment
• Whether the multiverse trend has become a creative crutch
• The role of studios like Marvel Studios in shaping modern superhero storytelling
Are we truly experiencing superhero fatigue — or are we just demanding better writing?
If you love sharp nerd culture analysis, movie breakdowns, and pop culture commentary from a Black nerd perspective, this one’s for you.
