92 | How to rid anxiety with your next meal with LUIS MOJICA

In this episode, I interview somatic therapist, nutritionist, and author Luis Mojica about the link between trauma recovery and nutrition, a focus of his book Food Therapy (releasing April 28). Mojica explains “food-induced stress,” arguing that nervous system regulation is affected by what we eat daily, not just breathwork or therapy, and categorizes foods as stimulants (caffeine, sugar, skipping meals), depressants (fried/processed flour and fat like fries, pizza, pasta), and balancers (beans, greens, proteins). He describes “seesaw regulation,” shame-free “unconscious alchemy” behind cravings, and how balancing meals can shift mood, sleep, glucose, and stress responses. They discuss examples including insomnia tied to nocturnal hypoglycemia, improved blood sugar, boundaries revealed when removing coping foods, and how culture and processed diets shape regulation. Mojica shares a tracking practice and invites pre-order readers to a free book club.

Connect with Kallie on Instagram:

https://stan.store/kalisomatics?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAdGRleARQsKhleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA8xMjQwMjQ1NzQyODc0MTQAAaekIYy6yHKiLmOfqLB6P1B-SfHnOs4TfxYjIbTGbdPPNBhh4_0CTn1CThQmHw_aem_wge7M1c9I3gInfyi0T7sGA

Connect with Luis on Instagram:

https://www.instagram.com/holistic.life.navigation?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Buy Luis's book here:

https://amzn.to/4ci3byy

91 | Unshaming insecurity, eating disorders & more w/ David Bedrick

In this episode, we welcome back teacher, counselor, and author David Bedrick, founder of the Santa Fe Institute for Shame-Based Studies, to discuss his “unshaming” approach to shame and trauma healing. Bedrick contrasts traditional pathology-and-fix models with meeting symptoms—such as eating struggles, anger, addiction, codependency, anxiety, and insecurity—with curiosity, respect, and embodied listening to uncover their meaning and intelligence. He shares a story from a Slovak eating-disorder documentary session where a client’s throat-closing response reveals a powerful boundary and a “revolution” in expression, emphasizing organic pacing rather than quick fixes. Kallie relates the approach to post-infidelity insecurity in a new relationship and discovering boundary intelligence. They also discuss Bedrick’s book The Unshaming Way and his upcoming Unshaming Way Workbook (March 17), designed with step-by-step somatic practices and poetry.

To find Kallie on social media and explore her offers: https://stan.store/kalisomatics

To sign up for Kallie's 6-month program, SHED: https://kalisomatics.com/shed

To find David on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/david.bedrick/

To order David's new The Unshaming Way Workbook:

https://www.amazon.com/Unshaming-Way-Workbook-Reflection-Self-Blame/dp/B0FFG5HF69
