6: Christina Gets Real: PDF One-Sheets & Pitch Templates

Podcasters often ask me what they should have in place before starting to guest on podcasts or pitching to podcasts. Well, besides obvious reasons like a solid presence or solid call to action, what you really need is a pitch template. It’s a huge save timer and can save you loads of effort along the way. And, attention here, I insist on the template over the popular “one sheet” thing. The template will always be ready-to-go and let you adjust and adapt the content to the context, propose topic ideas, and even include some audio snippets. This is really going hit on your credibility markers and open more doors. So, what does it take to create a solid pitch template? [01:11] What is the one thing you should do before you start guesting on podcasts or pitching to podcasts.? [02:07] The real reason people fixate on creating one sheet. [02:22] What a solid pitch template looks like and why you need one. [04:30] Guidelines and tips for creating a solid pitch. 5: Podcast Publicity for the Long Game with Luis Báez

In this episode, I am bringing in Luis Báez, Founder and Sales Enablement Specialist  at LuisBaez.com.  We dive deep into how podcast publicity has impacted his business over the past year, the opportunities that have opened up for him during this time, and his experience in working with the Publicity by Christina team. As a business owner you are managing and tackling so many things at once, including publicity (which you may or may not even feel comfortable doing). But what happens if this gets taken out of your hands and is handled by a team of experts who know what they’re doing? Luis has seen and felt the positive changes his business has had since working with us. It hasn’t been an easy road with quick turnarounds, but the quality of relationships and connections podcast guesting has brought in his business has been nothing short of amazing. Learn the processes he has gone through and what he is doing to continue growing his business through podcast guesting in our conversation. [01:59] A short backgrounder on Luis and how he has impacted Christina’s business. [04:37] How things have shifted in his business since he started guesting on other podcasts in the past year. 4: Why I Guarantee Bookings (& Why That's Controversial)

I have worked in the PR and publicity world for over 15 years and I know how clients want concrete answers to things we don’t always have control over - ROI and conversion, for example. This is the reason why most agencies don’t give guarantees to their clients. But when I started my own business I was determined to give my clients some sort of solid guarantee - even if it went against the typical PR “rules.” Why? Because as a small business owner myself, I know it’s hard to invest so much money in publicity without even knowing what results you’re going to see on the other end. But here’s the thing - publicity can be guaranteed and I can attest to this with the work we have done (and are currently doing). So if you’d want to learn what guarantees I offer to clients, the important things you need to think about when looking for a publicity agency and how you can find the best agency to cater to your business’ needs, listen in on this episode today. [01:16] Why I don’t agree with PR pros not guaranteeing the number of placements to clients. [04:00] My thoughts on how publicity should be done. Don’t know what publicity is? Check Episode 2 out to learn more. (https://www.publicityxchristina.com/episode2) [05:10] Making the controversial decision of guaranteeing the number of placements for my clients. [06:16] Publicity isn’t something immediate and fast. [07:18] The guarantee we give on the two packages we offer for our Podcast Pitch Broker service. 3: Your Publicity Questions Answered with Lindsay Woychick

There are a few questions that we get all the time from clients and potential clients and we know you’d like to know the answers to them as well. Which is why I’m bringing Lindsay Woychick, AKA the Yin to my Yang and one of the most important figures at Publicity x Christina, on to share her insights and help me answer these questions for you! First up, timelines. Publicity in general is not a one and done type thing. You don’t send one email to each of your desired hosts or publications and the next day you’re booked. Podcast pitching is a process and it does take time. Now for smaller shows you might see a turn around time (from pitch to booked to aired) of a month or two. For larger shows however, that timeline could be extended to a year or more. For one, their content calendars are already established for months at a time. Plus, remember that most podcasts air weekly. That means that there are only 52 opportunities for them to have guests (26 if they mix in solo shows.) So don’t be discouraged if you’re not getting immediate answers. The timeline is just the start of the questions. Listen in to hear the rest of our most asked questions and their answers. Have a question that hasn’t been answered, write in and let us know! Hopefully we will get enough to do an FAQ episode each quarter! Submit your questions to podcast@publicityxchristina.com (mailto:podcast@publicityxchristina.com). In this episode: [01:32] Meet Lindsay Woychick. The Yin to my Yang and one of the MOST integral people on my team. [02:24] Learn how we met and fell in love. [04:41] Not sure what publicity is? Check out this episode! [05:33] What does Lindsay like about publicity work? [06:33] The first thing we get asked about is the timeline around publicity. Learn more. [08:06] Hear an actual timeline that has taken place for a very large show. [10:59] Podcast calendars very much reflect editorial calendars and publishing calendars. [13:20] What you should and should not include in a successful pitch. [16:15] You have to listen to an episode before you pitch! [17:47] The most important thing to include in your pitch is topics to discuss. [21:19] Do one-sheets matter? [24:24] We don’t even have one-sheets that we use… [25:31] Why you need to get out of your head and just pitch. [27:09] Don’t get hung up on the numbers! Smaller shows can provide more return. [29:15] Getting a “no” is not necessarily a bad thing. [33:50] The work doesn’t end once the show is booked. Repurposing content is a beautiful thing. [37:42] With bigger shows the listener may not be there for you… Links and Resources: Episode 2: What IS Publicity? 2: What IS Publicity?

I have a quick question for you. What is publicity to you?    I ask this question of all of my clients and potential clients to get a bead on where they are at in their marketing and publicity knowledge. The reason? Because I truly get a wide range of answers and this lets me know where we’re starting from. I’ve had clients answer with anything from Mad Men references to complete and utter blanks but an overall feeling that it’s important. Think of your marketing efforts as a Venn Diagram. You have paid marketing, owned marketing, and earned marketing. Publicity falls into the earned marketing. You have no control over how the information is used, but you’ve put it out there and the host or platform does with it what they wish. Why is publicity so important? Because people trust it. The more your name flashes in front of your ideal client’s face, the more likely they are to know, like, and trust you. This means they’re more likely to consume your content and subsequently buy from you. For many people, stepping into the path of publicity is very scary. I’ll be addressing all of those mindset and confidence things as well as HOW to do publicity on this podcast. Listen in to learn more! In this episode: [01:00] What is publicity to you? [02:05] The Venn Diagram of Marketing. [03:02] What earned media and marketing consists of. [03:43] Why is publicity important? [05:03] I don’t think ads are a waste of money, but I do think publicity is just as important. [06:50] A better way to look at podcast numbers and overall visibility. [09:15] Publicity is mostly about allowing yourself to be seen and spreading the word. 1: Meet Your Podcast Publicist

Hi there! I’m Christina and I am one of the most extrovertiest people you will ever meet. I’ve been in public relations for over 15 years, but when I realized the power of podcasting, I knew that’s where I needed to focus in. Get ready to meet your podcast publicist! First things first, if you’re listening and thinking, this just isn’t for me, I’m not digging your vibe Christina, no worries! I know that my brand of inspiration isn’t for everyone. But if you know someone who’d love the podcast, send them my way. Now, a little about me. I initially thought I wanted to be a writer, but as I grew and began experiencing the world, I realized that a writer’s life felt stifling to me. My mom called it when she said that while I was definitely talented as a writer, I’d be a better fit for PR. I’ve worked in many different capacities in the PR world, but when I had my daughter I left it all behind to tend to her. After about a year, I had friends and colleagues reaching out asking for advice and that’s when I decided to take my business online. Fast-forward to my very first course launch. I did all the things that the gurus tell you to do. I had a funnel, I ran ads, and I rocked my webinar. I had zero purchasers. For my second launch I decided to practice what I preach. I started pitching myself to be on podcasts and the difference in my sales and my business growth was massive. I started helping my clients get on to podcasts as well and realized that this is the way to promote without having to spend insane amounts of money. Sound like something you want to learn more about? Awesome! Keep your ears open for amazing interviews and practical tips and advice to get you started on your podcast publicity journey. It’s not easy, but it’s 100% worth it. In this episode: [01:00] Welcome to Your Podcast Publicist. [01:43] Not everyone is going to dig this podcast, but you won’t know until you listen! [02:07] A little bit about me, I’m super extroverty. The extrovertiest. [03:08] Why I started into podcast publicity. [03:27] I am truly an honest publicist. Learn more. [04:48] What I hope to accomplish with this podcast. [06:32] How did I become the person that I am today? [08:13] My mom totally called it when I was a teenager. [10:13] Learn more about my public relations background. [12:09] Why the traditional launch model didn’t work for me and what I did instead. [14:44] If you think this is going to be your jam, keep listening in for tips, tricks, and motivation.
