<p>"All the G7 won't meet their 2030 targets"- Ember</p><p><br></p><p>The leaders of the 7 richest countries meet today in Italy until June 15. This annual summit should be for observers a crucial moment to deliver new climate finance targets for the United Nations climate talks in Baku. The UN Climate conference will be in Azerbaijan at the end of this year.</p><p><br></p><p>The New Climate Finance Goals</p><p><br></p><p>Three countries have been invited to the G7 Summit, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and India. An ambitious new climate finance is needed, urges Tasneem Essop, Director at Climate Action Network International . Around 370 million people in Southern Africa are at risk from climate change-related hazards such as cyclones, droughts and floods. Sherpard Zvigadza from  CAN INTERNATIONAL Southern Africa recalls.</p><p><br></p><p>On Monday,  the European Union representative at the technical negotiations in Bonn notes little progress on the mitigation side. But during two weeks,  until today negotiators from the Global North and the Global South are discussing with no progress on finance say observers. One of their subjects is to resolve the road map on finance for COP 29. The challenges are to understand who can pay and how. For PACJA, Panafrican Climate Justice Alliance, Africa is a continent with special circumstances and needs.</p><p><br></p><p>" The G7 is still highly dependent on gas"</p><p><br></p><p>They underline this information during a recent press conference. The climate activists ask negotiators to include the special needs and circumstances of Africa in the national adaptation plans. It is already mentioned for LDCs and Small Islands State. Kenya, one the guest of the G7 is the chair of the African group of Negotiators. On "Your Voice", Dave Jones replies to questions. on how emerging countries can have access to loans or grants .  He explains what Ember found in the 2030 renewable energy targets of the richest countries.  According to the <a href="https://ember-climate.org/data/data-tools/global-renewable-power-target-tracker-2030/">Ember's report</a> , the G7 is still highly dependent on gas, accounting for 38% of global electricity generation from fossil gas in 2023. South Africa elections: " We want a nation"- Nomavenda Mathiane

<p>30 years after the end of the apartheid regime in South Africa, the South African population is  heading to the polls. These elections are  the most challenging  national and provincial elections  since the end of the apartheid. The vote aims  to establish a new National Assembly and state legislatures. The ruling party, the Nelson Mandela party, the African National Congress, might lose, according to observers.</p><p>Nomavenda Mathiane is a former journalist, witness to apartheid regime in South Africa. She worked for major South African newspapers such as Business Day, the World newspaper.</p><p>She stresses on "Your Voice" that she is not a politician. However, as a former journalist she thinks the ANC party fails to respond to the South African needs. She is nearly 80 years old.  As a reporter during the apartheid regime, she struggled to work. But she was part of the journalists who witnessed and suffered  <a href="https://www.zinnedproject.org/news/tdih/soweto-uprising/">the June 16 1976 Youth Soweto uprising</a>. For those who do not know, this riot was a high school students  protestation  for better education.   On "Your Voice",  Nomavenda Mathiane, points out  her challenges during the apartheid regime. She raises concerns regarding to the governance in South Africa today. <p>Houmi Ahamed-Mikidache s'est entretenue avec Paul de Preville la semaine dernière sur Radio Era Environnement. Paul de Preville est le cofondateur d'Ensol, une start-up spécialisée dans l'énergie solaire pour particuliers en France.  Basé à Paris, Ensol déploie ses activités en Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur.  La start-up est membre d' ENR plan, syndicat du photovoltaïque. La jeune entreprise envisage de lancer un site où des entreprises spécialisées dans le solaire partageront leurs expériences.</p><p>Comparée aux autres pays européens, la France est en retard sur l'utilisation des énergies renouvelables. D'après le <a href="https://www.statistiques.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/edition-numerique/chiffres-cles-energies-renouvelables-2022/3-objectif-2030-et-situation-actuelle#:~:text=Lecture%20%3A%20dans%20le%20cadre%20de,%C3%A9l%C3%A8ve%20%C3%A0%2019%2C3%20%25.">ministère de la Transition Ecologique</a>, la France s'est fixée un objectif de 33 % d'énergie produite à partir de sources renouvelables d'ici 2030. Le mix énergétique actuel se compose  de  40 % de nucléaire, 28 % de pétrole, 16 % de gaz naturel,  2% de charbon et  14 % d'énergies renouvelables .</p><p>Il existe un paradoxe entre la perception de l'utilisation des énergies renouvelables et son utilisation réelle.
