I am so excited to welcome you to my podcast, Real Talk, Simple Faith. I’ve been there, feeling overwhelmed, especially by the thought of I must be Ms. Perfect before I step a foot in a Church. Perfect walk, perfect clothe, perfect hair, smiling. Honestly, there was a time in my life when I felt so intimidated by those people that I began to resent God. I found myself thinking, ’I don’t want anything to do with that God.’ When I read Mark 7:6-7 something triggered in me. I learned that God is a compassionate and merciful God, that all He is looking for is your heart, a true change of heart, He is looking to give us all a break, to rest in Him. That doesn’t happen overnight, it is a work in progress that takes all our life. I decided to challenge and rethink some of those traditional beliefs. I decided to go back to the basics of the Bible and talk about how simple and beautiful is to love God through Jesus. In this podcast I share basic practical tools that helped me move past religious judgments to loving and trusting the God of the Bible. I take things slowly, share tools that help me, and really focus on understanding God’s character over just rules and laws. I will not try to convince you about my interpretation or beliefs, that is my promise to you. I will speak my mind and granted you will disagree with me sometimes, but that is ok we are still friends. Let’s face it, there’s so much we don’t know about God and the divine realm that to be honest, we would be losing the whole purpose of the Bible, which is create a relationship with God, a personal relationship. Are you ready to get to know and trust the God of the Bible with me in a different way, Are you ready finally join a conversation that really speaks to you, without judgment, no rush, and on your own time, then this podcast is for you. 17 | Can a Movie Bring You Closer to God? The Shack: Finding God in Unexpected Places.

<p>Hi!</p> <p>Why talk about The Shack?</p> <p>I came across a post in a Christian Facebook group where someone shared how the movie brought her closer to God. Despite the backlash for its perceived lack of biblical accuracy, the story resonated with her deeply. It reminded me that finding God isn't confined to the Bible's pages or a church; God is everywhere.</p> <p>The story of The Shack started as a book by William Paul Young and later became a movie that has touched many hearts. The author struggled to publish it because it was deemed "not Christian enough" by Christian publishers and "too much Jesus" by secular ones. This middle ground is what makes it so relatable. If you've watched the movie or feel compelled to watch it after this episode, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Send me an email or leave a review.</p> <p>The movie portrays God as a being of love, safety, and compassion, reaching out to the main character, Mack, in a way that resonates with his past. This depiction isn't necessarily biblical, but it beautifully illustrates how God meets us where we are. One powerful scene around 53 minutes in shows Mac questioning God, and God's response is profound: "When all you see is your pain, you lose sight of me." </p> <p>The movie also features Lady Wisdom, providing an intriguing perspective on judgment from God's viewpoint. While not necessarily biblically accurate, it offers food for thought on the complexities of divine judgment.</p> <p>The core message of The Shack is that our souls have hidden places where we keep our true thoughts and feelings. The movie encourages us to break down these walls and be honest with God, who loves us as we are. While The Shack isn't a Bible substitute, it reminds us that God can be found everywhere, and the Holy Spirit helps us discern His presence.</p> <p>If you watched the movie or read the book, did you see God in it?
