yr fave film critic

About yr fave film critic

A weekly series from Dom Griffin, the host and producer of The Armchair Auteur on YouTube. The pod is an entry way into the inner workings of a film critic's mind, the notes scrawled in the margins of first drafts, the hot takes too scalding to post on Twitter, and most importantly, an ongoing conversation with the audience about all the things that aren't fit to print. Think of this as a film critic's finsta, where we can probe deeper, or in some cases, not bother probing at all.

   starting over

Returning from a hiatus to announce another hiatus. I lost my job and I've been struggling pretty badly mental health wise. I talk about the X-Men '97 finale, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Challengers, Furiosa, other stuff obviously but the first half is pretty raw and personal, so the time stamps allow you to skip it for the "good" stuff. If you feel compelled to chip in or help: https://paypal.me/domgriff https://cash.app/$domgriffin Or use my One Bone affiliate link if you need new gear for the summer: One Bone, the fashion brand for the hard-to-fit man. On the mid-season finale of the pod before a short hiatus, I give my Joker: Folie a Deux trailer reaction, talk about OJ Simpson's death, recount Wrestlemania XL and Cody Rhodes' big hero arc, stroll through memory lane via back issues of Wizard Magazine, and then talk about Brad Meltzer's Identity Crisis, The Legion of Super-Heroes (Meltzer & Johns' Lightning Saga, Mark Waid's Threeboot Legion, and Brian Michael Bendis' recent efforts), as well as unpacking the insanity of Mark Millar's work on the Ultimate line over the years.
