Podcast Overview

Stephanie Zenith was born in Washington DC, but grew up all over the world. Her childhood included living in places like Michigan and Virginia in the US; as well as South Korea and the Philippines. No matter where the location, Stephanie’s jazz drummer father made sure the family piano arrived in one piece. Stephanie played more instruments like tenor saxophone and guitar and her musical journey included other things like choirs, musicals, both symphonic and marching bands; and DJing her university radio station before settling in with DJing and production. Zenith relocated to San Francisco in 2002, where she regularly cultivated events under the moniker, Z Productions. The goal of these experiences were to pair top quality music with a safe and all-inclusive environment. We all tried to really live the old-school motto of PLUR: Peace, Love, Unity, Respect. Zenith was a member and collaborator of Boom Boom Woods. She regularly collaborated with other collectives like Housepitality and Direct to Earth to bring top talent to San Francisco. Stephanie had two weekly party residencies: one was at a lounge known for their deep house at all times [house music ALL night long 🎶], and an after hours called Activate. Stephanie was a regular in the line-ups for festivals like Bass Above the Clouds, Boom Boom Woods, FRC, FnF, Burning Man… to name a few. Zenith played regularly up and down the west coast as well as Washington DC, Paris, and Brussels. She collaborated on the radio with KZSU Standord’s the Big Love Show and the EOM Sessions[El Otro Mundo Sessions] with Chris & Paul Leath [Leath-AL] She moved from San Francisco to Berlin in 2015 to live in one of the meccas of the electronic music universe. While it’s hard to find the right words to describe her sound, you’ll know it when you hear it. There’s only one Zenith. Coming to a sound system near you.

The journey starts out in the land of happy anticipation, and launches off into an irreverent romp through the low end of the register… taking detours by all the fun things one might get up to when the music is pumping. It’s true what they say: the freaks do come out at night.
