From tariffs and Trump’s Truth Social posts to government stakes in major companies, the AI boom and prediction markets, politics and financial markets have never been more closely connected. In this episode of Zero Sum, Harsh speaks with David Morrison, Senior Market Analyst at Trade Nation and regular Invezz columnist, about how Donald Trump is changing financial markets, whether traditional investing fundamentals still matter, and what investors should watch next. Market News: The return of the "debasement trade" | Alexander Lis, SDV
What happens when a routine Treasury debt operation sends gold and Bitcoin higher, while the dollar weakens? Is the market seeing a genuine return of the “debasement trade”, or are investors reading too much into a change in how the US government manages its debt?On August 19, the US Treasury announced it would double the size of its long-term debt buybacks. Within days, gold was making three-month highs and Bitcoin had jumped more than 20%. But a Treasury buyback is not the same thing as quantitative easing, and understanding that distinction is key to understanding what markets are actually pricing in.In this episode of Invest Zero Sum, Harsh V sits down with Alexander Lis, Chief Investment Officer at SDV, to unpack the debasement trade, Treasury buybacks, QE, inflation, interest rates and what the latest moves could mean for gold, Bitcoin, crypto and stocks.Find out more about Alexander & his work with SDV here: https://sdventures.ai/### In this episode:🔹 **What is the debasement trade?** Alexander explains what investors actually mean when they talk about debasement and why the narrative has become so popular.🔹 **Is a Treasury buyback the same as QE?** We break down the difference between Treasury debt management and quantitative easing, including how the operations are funded.🔹 **Why did gold and Bitcoin jump?** If no new money is entering the system, why did markets react so strongly?🔹 **Is the crypto rally real?** We look at positioning, volatility and whether Bitcoin and other crypto assets could give back their gains if the current sentiment fades.🔹 **What happens if the debasement trade unwinds?** Alexander explains why crypto could face the most pain, while gold and growth stocks could also be affected.🔹 **What should investors watch next?** From the September FOMC meeting and August CPI to the next Treasury Quarterly Refunding Announcement, we discuss the events that could shape the next move in markets.Alexander also reveals what he is currently **bullish, bearish and watching as his wild card**, before discussing how he switches off from the world of finance, markets and news.CHAPTERS:00:01:42 What exactly is the debasement trade?00:03:28 Is a Treasury buyback the same as QE?00:05:13 Why did gold and Bitcoin jump?00:07:53 Is the crypto rally actually real?00:09:12 What happens to rates and the dollar next?00:10:35 Could the US become the next Japan?00:12:05 What trade gets crushed if debasement unwinds?00:13:26 What should investors watch before the buybacks start?00:14:29 What will the Fed do next?00:16:06 Why does monetary policy matter to everyone?00:17:33 What are you bullish, bearish and watching?00:19:19 How does a CIO switch off?00:22:00 The final takeawayMusic from Uppbeat:License code: Q9GELZCLZH1PWACEDISCLAIMER:The information discussed in this episode is for educational and informational purposes only and should not be considered financial or investment advice. AI Investing: Before You Let AI Manage Your Portfolio | Bruce Keith, InvestorAi
AI is rapidly changing the way people invest, but should you really let an AI decide what happens to your money? With AI-powered investing tools becoming increasingly accessible to retail investors, the question is no longer whether AI can analyse markets — but whether it can be trusted to make investment decisions. In this episode of Zero Sum, Harsh speaks with Bruce Keith, CEO and co-founder of InvestorAi, about how artificial intelligence is changing investing, why most people are using ChatGPT and other large language models incorrectly when picking stocks, and how AI can identify patterns that would be impossible for a human investor to process. They discuss the evolution from traditional quantitative and symbolic AI to neural networks, computer vision and modern AI-driven investment platforms. They also explore how much control investors should give AI, why transparency and track record matter, what investors should look for before trusting an AI-powered portfolio with real money, and whether regulators are keeping pace with the rapidly changing investment landscape. Bruce explains why he believes AI is particularly powerful for short-term decisions, while humans remain better suited to longer-term investment decisions. The conversation also looks at the future of automated investing, including AI-driven risk controls, auto-execution, AI systems inside banks and financial institutions, and the wider impact of AI on jobs and society.Plus, Bruce reveals his bullish, bearish and wildcard picks — including Indian infrastructure and JSW Steel, US leadership, and why his wildcard might be listening to the younger generation.CHAPTERS[00:00] - Can AI Really Pick Stocks?[02:27] - How Did AI Investing Begin?[04:35] - Symbolic AI vs Neural Networks[07:02] - Are People Using ChatGPT Wrong for Investing?[08:09] - What Is AI Actually Good At?[09:41] - How Does InvestorAI Pick Stocks?[13:25] - Can Retail Investors Access AI Investing?[14:29] - Why Knowing When to Sell Matters[15:50] - Is AI Better at Short-Term Investing?[18:00] - Should You Use AI and Humans Together?[19:54] - How Much Control Should AI Have?[22:36] - Can You Trust an AI With Your Money?[24:39] - Why Does Transparency Matter?[26:13] - How Should You Measure an AI Investment Tool?[27:15] - Are Regulators Keeping Up With AI?[29:19] - Who Is Responsible When AI Gets It Wrong?[30:44] - Where Is AI Investing Heading?[31:21] - AI Inside Banks and Financial Institutions[32:35] - Will AI Start Trading Automatically?[33:45] - How Much Risk Should AI Take?[34:11] - Will AI Take People's Jobs?[35:44] - The One Question Investors Should Ask[37:28] - Bruce's Bullish, Bearish & Wildcard Picks[37:45] - Bullish: Indian Infrastructure & JSW Steel[38:55] - Bearish: US Leadership[39:19] - Wildcard: Should Investors Listen to the Youth?[40:47] - Life in Mumbai & How Bruce De-stresses[42:33] - Football, Cycling & Life in IndiaFind out more about Bruce Keith and InvestorAi here: https://investorai.inMusic from Uppbeat: License code: Q9GELZCLZH1PWACEThe content on Zero Sum is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only and does not constitute financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. why everyone's suddenly nervous about AI stocks | Dr. Richard L. Peterson
Everyone's calling this an AI bubble — but is it actually one, or are we all just panicking because Michael Burry made a bet? This week, I sit down with Dr Richard Peterson, the behavioural economist behind MarketPsych (once dubbed "Wall Street's top psychiatrist" by the AP), to actually measure the psychology behind the AI trade instead of just vibing about it. We get into why sentiment data has been sliding since October, why this bubble is more "sober" than dot-com (spoiler: these companies actually make money), what really happened when Burry's Nvidia and Palantir puts went public, and why companies outside AI are getting punished for not having an AI story to tell. Then we go somewhere most bubbles take a skip entirely: the layoffs. AI was cited in roughly 40% of all US job cuts in May 2026 — the highest share on record — and Gartner's own research found no link between those cuts and any actual return on investment. So is this discipline, or just a story markets want to hear? 00:00 Why Markets Crash 00:43 AI Hype And Bubble Risk 01:43 Nvidia Shock And Guest Intro 02:58 How Sentiment Data Works 04:56 AI Sentiment Cycles Since ChatGPT 06:10 Dotcom Parallels And Competition 09:42 Speculation Signs And IPO Liquidity 11:58 Influencers And Herd Psychology 15:09 Winners Losers In AI Supply Chain 17:22 Jobs Narrative And Real Data 19:54 Are We In A Bubble 22:03 Bullish Bearish Wildcards 23:13 Wrap Up And Post Chat

Is Britain Broken? Decoding Starmer's Exit and What Comes Next | David Morrison, Trade Nation
Britain just lost another Prime Minister. Keir Starmer resigned on 22 June 2026 — less than two years after winning one of Labour's biggest ever election landslides — making him the sixth Prime Minister to leave Downing Street in under a decade. Andy Burnham, the former Mayor of Greater Manchester, is almost certain to be next. In this episode, Invezz Lead News Editor Harsh Vardhan sits down with David Morrison, Senior Market Analyst at Trade Nation, to ask the harder question: is Britain actually broken? Not as a vibe — as a structural economic problem. The pound is down. The FTSE chronically underperforms. HS2 started at £32 billion in 2011 and is now heading toward £103 billion, won't open until 2039, and was originally supposed to launch this year. Meanwhile, the US and China are pouring hundreds of billions into AI, and Britain is watching from the sidelines. 00:00 - Intro 01:05 - Welcome: Starmer Resigns 03:10 - Is Britain Actually Broken? 06:45 - Starmer's Torrid Time 08:55 - What Does Foreign Money Think? 10:40 - Larry the Cat: Britain's Most Stable Politician 11:45 - Why Didn't the Markets Flinch? 13:50 - Why Are Americans Obsessed With British Politics? 16:25 - Is the UK Falling Behind on Tech? 19:10 - What Will Andy Burnham Actually Do? 20:30 - Bullish, Bearish & Wildcard The content on Zero Sum is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only and does not constitute financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. BREAKING: Strait of Hormuz closed, again? Oil shock, peace talks, and what happens next.
On Saturday the 20th of June, 2026, Iran announced closure yet again for the Strait of Hormuz... The US and Iran have confirmed a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, ending a 3.5-month blockade that choked off roughly a fifth of global oil flows. Markets reacted fast. Asian stocks surged as much as 5.7%, and Brent crude fell more than 4% in early Monday trading. The winners and losers are already taking shape. Airlines, hammered all year by sky-high jet fuel costs, are the most obvious beneficiaries. Tankers, the hot trade of Q1, face a sharp reversal. But this isn't a light switch, mines still need clearing, and infrastructure damage across the Gulf means the reopening will be gradual. So what does it actually mean for your money, and where should you be putting it? Wajeeh Khan, Invezz stock market analyst, joins Lead News Editor Harsh to break it down. SpaceX IPO: is Elon Musk asking for too much?
SpaceX is going public, and the numbers are staggering. A $1.75 trillion valuation and a $75 billion raise make this one of the most anticipated, and most controversial, IPOs in Wall Street history. But is it actually worth it?In this episode of Invezz Zero Sum, host Harsh Vardhan sits down with David Morrison, Senior Market Analyst at Trade Nation, to break down what SpaceX's IPO really means for investors. They dig into how the company is being valued, what risks the market might be ignoring, and whether retail investors should be excited... or very, very cautious. If you have ever wondered how a rocket company gets valued higher than most of the world's economies, this is the episode for you.Biggest IPO in history: Let's work out if it's worth buying.00:00 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8) SpaceX Launch01:00 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=60s) Welcome to Zero Sum02:30 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=150s) Marmite Musk: Love Him or Hate Him04:00 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=240s) $75 Billion for a Company That Lost $5 Billion05:45 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=345s) The 42% Voting Power Problem08:30 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=510s) Will This Money Fund a Trip to Mars?11:30 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=690s) The Starlink Bet14:15 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=855s) The Kill Switch Problem15:30 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=930s) xAI: An "Indeterminate" Moat18:30 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=1110s) Morningstar's Bearish Case22:00 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=1320s) Markets vs National Security23:15 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=1395s) Bullish, Bearish & Wildcard25:30 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=1530s) Living Forever: The AI Healthcare Wildcard27:45 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz4tlg6GTX8&t=1665s) Sign OffTune in to more of David Morrison's insights at TradeNation: https://tradenation.com/knowledgebase/authors/david-morrison/The content on Zero Sum is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only and does not constitute financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. The $1.75 trillion question: Is SpaceX IPO worth the hype?
Elon Musk filed the paperwork on April 1. No, really. In this episode of Zero Sum, I'm joined by Wajeeh Khan — stock market analyst at Invezz — to break down what the SpaceX IPO actually means for markets, for retail investors, and for the question nobody on Wall Street wants to answer out loud: is a $1.75 trillion valuation real, or is it the most expensive story ever sold on a Nasdaq listing? We get into why Starlink is carrying the entire financial case for a company that lost nearly five billion dollars last year, what the xAI merger actually did to the balance sheet, and whether allocating 30% of the IPO to retail investors is democratisation — or just very elegant distribution. Rockets. Satellites. AI losses. Bitcoin on the balance sheet. Data centres in orbit. It's all in here. Biggest IPO in history. Let's work out if it's worth buying. 00:00 Trailer 01:12 Intro 01:47 SpaceX IPO Shock 03:27 Wajeeh welcome 04:55 Why Go Public Now? 08:13 xAI Merger Explained 10:56 Financials Get Weird 12:45 Starlink Carries It 14:09 Valuation Moonshot 16:32 Governance Retail Risk 18:01 Advice For Retail 20:46 Closing Takeaways 21:48 Bullish, Bearish & Wildcard 24:21 Final Sign Off #SpaceX #SpaceXIPO #Starlink #ElonMusk #IPO #StockMarket #Investing #xAI

Trump meets Xi: The power play in China
Trump landed in Beijing. Xi was waiting. And somewhere on Air Force One, Jensen Huang was probably thinking about chip export controls. In this episode of Zero Sum, I am joined by Clem Chambers — investor, author, and CEO of aNewFN— to break down what the Trump-Xi summit actually means for markets, for the AI war, and for the Taiwan question that nobody in the room wanted to answer out loud. We get into why artificial intelligence has become the single most contested battleground in US-China relations, whether the billionaire delegation was genuine diplomacy or very expensive theatre, and what Clem is bullish on, bearish on, and watching closely as the dust settles. Big trip. Bigger stakes. Let's work out who's actually winning. Musk vs Altman: the lawsuit that could break AI
Elon Musk gave $38 million to a nonprofit. That nonprofit is now worth $852 billion. And Elon wants $134 billion of it back. Welcome to the most expensive donor's remorse in Silicon Valley history. This week on Zero Sum, we dig into the trial that could blow up the biggest IPO Wall Street has ever seen — a company losing $14 billion a year, a CEO with zero equity, and a courtroom bombshell where Musk admitted his own AI trained on OpenAI's models.
