And this is, I think, the first time that we've had an author with something like this come up on this show, but it won't be the last. And we do want to reckon with great works by people who maybe either weren't great or did some things that were not good. And we are troubling that line and working through how to understand the division between the art and the artist all the time, just as everyone else who engages with any kind of art is. We don't have a solid answer. We've been all over the map and kind of moved around our solutions to this and our responses to it in our almost 20 years of doing this kind of work, both together and individually. […]
