   Rethinking Rewards in Christian Giving

This episode is inspired by a segment of a sermon by a pastor (link and timestamp to the referenced segment are below). As part of his sermon, #keionhenderson states that giving to the needy does not bring multiplication in blessings and wealth - only tithes and offerings do that. In this episode, let's explore what the Bible has to say about giving, the rewards of giving and if the Bible segments blessings based on the kind of 'giving' or charity we are engaged in. --------------------------- Link to Original Sermon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3BmiO134bc  T imestamp referenced (47:54-48:54)

The Tale of an Irresponsible Father, a Twisted Son, a Silenced Victim, & the Effects of Unresolved Anger

In this riveting episode, we dive deeply into the often-overlooked Second Samuel Chapter 13, masterfully unmasking the intricate familial relationships, unspoken tragedies, and crucial life lessons embedded in the biblical narrative. Our journey takes us to the heart of Absalom's war with his father, ignited by Tamar's tragic ordeal. We delve into a world populated by complex characters such as Amnon - the twisted king's son, Jonadab - the villainous cousin, and King David - the seemingly indifferent father, all woven together by the chaos their actions and choices bring. Central to our exploration is Tamar, the silenced victim, whose haunting story underscores the lingering impacts of inequity and injustice. We examine each character's role and motivations, highlighting the dire consequences of enabling harmful actions and thoughts. This chapter also exposes King David's glaring negligence, fostering a poignant discourse on parental responsibility, justice, and the power of guilt. Furthermore, we reflect on the plight of Tamar, whose trajectory underscores the need to acknowledge and fight for victims of violence and trauma. From Absalom's rage-fueled vengeance to the lingering effects of unpunished wrongdoing, this episode serves as a stern reminder of the ripple effects of our choices. Each decision we make, influenced by those around us, shapes our future and those entwined in our lives. Partake in our exploration of the revered yet deeply flawed character of King David, as we delve into his apparent apathy and explore the oft-ignored human weaknesses lurking beneath the surface of this iconic figure. Join us as we journey through the realities and repercussions of violence, guilt, justice and forgiveness within the complex narrative of Second Samuel Chapter 13, seeking insights relevant to our daily struggles and triumphs.

   The Forgotten King

While exploring II Samuel, I came across a king in a familiar line up that I hadn't heard of before. With decades of Sunday School and Bible Study, it was odd to me that I did not remember him. In this episode, I explore the forgotten king and the lessons I learned from his story.
