   Introducing: ZOE FELLOWS

We are excited to share more about ZOE On Campus’ new discernment and capstone project community: ZOE Fellows! Cohorts Launching early in 2027 our ZOE Fellows cohorts will be gathering in person and on-line to pursue practices of vocational discernment leading each participant to their “next faithful yes.” Cohorts will be organized around the cultural languages of each community and will take a variety of forms: retreats, monthly dinners, artistic workshops. A Launch & Learn retreat early in the year will help participants and campus ministers explore and uncover their best adaptations of FTE’s Discern Together framework. Meaning-Making Interviews As the cohorts get underway, ZOE staff will sit down with each Fellow for an interview exploring what they are learning, what vision they are gaining, and what next steps are coming into focus. This is our first chance to catch the vision that each Fellow has to share, and the plans they may be developing for a capstone project. Celebrations & Capstones Toward the end of the year, our second retreat gives Fellows from across the network a chance to gather and celebrate the journeys they have traveled together. For some, this community gathering will mark the culmination of their discernment process. Others may take advantage of an additional opportunity to pitch their ZOE Fellow Capstone Project and receive seed funding to make it a reality. In either case, we will take the time to honor the adventure these Fellows have had and bless them for the adventures yet to come. Why the ZOE Fellows Experience Matters The question of “What now?!” takes up a lot of head and heart space for the young adults ZOE works with. The ZOE Fellows experience is one way we can help young people craft their unique response to that vexing question. With communities helping each other be curious, spend the time necessary to be still and listen, and dream boldly - we’ll all move a bit closer to the kind of life, on campus and beyond, that God hopes for all of us. Campus Ministry Madness!

   # How to Leverage March Ministry Madness for Effective Fundraising: Insights from Campus Leaders Check out http://campusministrymadness.org/ (http://campusministrymadness.org/) Discover how to maximize fundraising efforts during March Ministry Madness. Learn strategies from campus leaders that can elevate your fundraising game. March brings a unique opportunity for campus ministries to engage donors and raise funds through the innovative March Ministry Madness initiative. This blog post explores the insights shared by Andrew Rickel and JP Carlson, two campus ministry leaders, during their recent discussion on the Zoey on Campus podcast. You'll learn how to effectively participate in this event, the benefits of collective fundraising, and the strategies that can drive donor engagement. ## The Concept Behind March Ministry Madness March Ministry Madness is not just about raising funds; it’s about fostering community and engagement among campus ministries. Andrew Rickel, a Lutheran campus pastor in Atlanta, Georgia, shared how this initiative was born out of the popularity of college basketball tournaments. The idea is simple: during March, as everyone is focused on college sports, why not turn that energy into fundraising for campus ministries? This event invites various ministries to participate, enhancing visibility and encouraging generous donations. ### How It All Started The event was inspired by the NCAA basketball tournaments, aiming to create a buzz around college campuses during March. The first year focused on a limited number of schools, primarily in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). However, as the event gained traction, it expanded nationwide, involving ministries from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Rickel explains, "We send out invitations to everyone in our network, encouraging them to join in and raise funds during this critical month when college is on everyone’s mind." ## The Benefits of Collective Fundraising One of the standout features of March Ministry Madness is its emphasis on collective fundraising. By collaborating, ministries can cast a wider net, reaching potential donors who might not have been engaged otherwise. Rickel notes that many donations come from first-time donors, highlighting the initiative's power to attract new supporters. ### Expanding Your Donor Base JP Carlson, a campus minister from Montana State University, shared his experience of attracting a diverse donor base during the event. He mentioned how even older alumni, who may not have been involved for years, were eager to contribute. Carlson stated, "We had people of all ages participating, including an 80-year-old woman who reached out to learn the best strategies for maximizing her donation points!" This demonstrates how March Ministry Madness not only raises funds but also rekindles connections with alumni and supports community spirit. ## Tips for Effective Participation To optimize your participation in March Ministry Madness, consider these actionable strategies: 1. Engage Your Network: - Utilize social media and email lists to promote the event and share your ministry's goals. The more people know about your participation, the better your chances of attracting donations. 2. Highlight First-Time Donors: - Encourage first-time donors by promoting the bonus points they can earn when contributing. This not only incentivizes giving but also expands your donor base significantly. 3. Create Competitive Spirit: - Emphasize the fun, competitive aspects of the event. Whether through friendly rivalries with other ministries or by setting internal challenges, keeping the energy high can boost engagement. 4. Leverage Storytelling: - Share compelling stories about how donations impact your ministry. Personal testimonials can resonate with potential donors, making them more likely to contribute. 5. Stay Engaged Beyond the Event: - Continue to communicate with donors after the event, thanking them and updating them on the impact of their contributions. Building relationships can lead to sustained support in the future. ## Key Takeaways March Ministry Madness is more than just a fundraising event; it’s a chance to unite campus ministries across the country, foster community spirit, and attract new supporters. By following the insights and strategies shared by Andrew Rickel and JP Carlson, you can enhance your fundraising efforts and make the most of this vibrant initiative. ### Conclusion In conclusion, participating in March Ministry Madness offers a unique opportunity to engage your community and raise funds effectively. By leveraging collective energy and employing strategic outreach, your campus ministry can thrive during this event. Remember to celebrate the connections made and the stories shared, as these will resonate well beyond March.
