Nie wieder ist jetzt! Die Befreiung des KZ Auschwitz jährt sich heute zum achtzigsten Mal. Zu diesem Datum erscheint DIE ERMITTLUNG von RP Kahl im Streaming. LICHTER durfte den Film bereits im Oktober in einer Sondervorstellung am Originalschauplatz des Saalbau Gallus präsentieren. Vor Ort waren, neben Regisseur RP Kahl, auch einer der Hauptankläger im Frankfurter Auschwitzprozess, Gerhard Wiese, und Dr. Markus Roth vom Fritz-Bauer-Institut anwesend. Das Gespräch zeichnete ein umfangreiches Bild von den Frankfurter Auschwitz-Prozessen, ihrer historischen Bedeutung für die Stadt und den Herausforderungen bei der Verfilmung dieses komplexen Stoffs.

Regisseurin Johanna Groß erforscht in ihrem Dokumentarfilm VON DEM, WAS BLEIBT nicht nur ihre Familiengeschichte, sondern deckt das auf, über was in vielen Familien nie gesprochen wurde: Die Auswirkungen des Zweiten Weltkriegs auf die nachfolgenden Generationen. Gemeinsam mit Kameramann und Co-Regisseur Daniel Hellwig macht sie sich auf die Spuren ihres Ur-Großvaters, der als Soldat an der Front im heutigen Moldau verschwunden ist. Der regionale Langfilmwettbewerb des LICHTER Filmfests zeigt die ganze Bandbreite und das große Potential des Filmschaffens in Hessen und der Rhein-Main-Region. Als Vorgeschmack auf das 17. LICHTER Filmfest vom 16. - 21. April stellen wir Vertreter:innen aus dieser Sektion vor und sprechen über deren Filme, über ihre Ideen zum Jahresthema ZUKUNFT und über Themen, die junge Filmschaffende bewegen. Mit FRANK MEYER stellen die Nachwuchsregisseure Riccardo Dejan Jurkovic und Leonhard Hofmann ein umfangreiches Projekt vor: Mehr als 10 Jahre begleiteten sie den ehemaligen Bodybuilder Frank Meyer auf seinem schwierigen Weg durch lange Krankheit und bei der Aufarbeitung seines durch eine gewaltvolle Kindheit geprägten Männlichkeitbilds.
