Gail Marquis is a professional basketball player, an Olympic Silver Medalist from New York, Queens, and a great friend of France. She has reached the legendary status of a Basketball Hall of Famer. She is also a pioneer – she was a part of the first women’s team to ever play in the Madison Square Garden stadium. The Consulate General of France in New York is delighted to launch the second season of its podcast A Propos, France and New York in conversation. For this first episode, we had the pleasure of speaking with French entrepreneur Yann Bucaille-Lanzerac, co-founder of Café Joyeux. This chain of café-restaurants was the first in the world to train and employ people with mental or cognitive disabilities. After years of success across Europe, it has just opened in New York, in the heart of Manhattan.
