The White Ship - H.P. Lovecraft

The White Ship is a short story published by H.P. Lovecraft in 1927. It is perhaps my favourite story among his substantial body of fantastical work  : not directly associated with the Cthulu mythology, the White ship becomes a parallel lore of its own, unique and mystical. It is an allegory for humanity's unquenchable curiosity, unbridled pride, and chasing impossible dreams.   . It is a bit of a departure from creating podcasts out of my own content, but it's now been quite a while since I've recorded anything, and I've always wanted to narrate a gothic bedside story, so here it is ! I hope you will enjoy it, and that it will open up H.P. Lovecraft's imaginary worlds to you.  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sound bites from Placidplace, Palle 1958, Artslop Flodur, 33nano, LesFM, Magnetic Trailer, Geoff Harvey and Litesaturation @ Pixabay Music

The Pantheon of Energy : mythology and symbolism in Chernobyl

Pripyat was a city steeped in symbolism and mythology long before it became widely known as a result of the 1986 Chernobyl accident.  It is a place where socialism, youth, science, myth, and disaster weaved a tapestry of stories that have only become more powerful with time.  Join me on this audio journey through the legends of the ghost city of Pripyat        __________________________________________________ featuring fascinating sound bites from contemporary synth pop bands : ** Forum - Let's Call Each Other (1985) ** V. Osinsky Ensemble - Safari (1984) ** Rusya - Rusalonka (1989) ** Telex - Moscow Discow (1979) ** Uzbek Supernature - Soviet Discoteque (1981) ** Eduard Khil - I Am Very Glad, as I'm Finally Returning Back Home (1976) as well as an audio recording of the Duga Radar invading the airwaves
