<p> </p> <p>西元1962年9月27日，瑞秋·卡森出版了《<strong>寂靜的春天</strong>》，揭示了化學污染對人類文化產生的巨大衝擊，及其對地球生態的影響。此書調查了35種鳥類因包括有機氯化物 (DDT) 在內的化學抗生素而遭受滅絕威脅的事例。</p> <p>在卡森的書出版之前，化學製造公司不願意承認這些有毒物質對於生物環境所造成的影響，而卡森的努力把對自然關懷的觀念帶回到了西方工業社會。 她的書警示了人類社會與棲息地的關係，喚醒了人們對更高一層的社會良知，也開啟了現代環境保護運動。</p> <p> </p>

<p>「永續發展」最常見的定義出自1987年聯合國世界環境與發展委員會發表的報告：「既滿足當代人之需求，又不危及下一代人滿足其需求能力之發展」。同時，永續發展還需要兼顧「環境」、「社會」、「經濟」等三大面向，在降低環境損害、確保社會資源分配的前提下，追求經濟成長，與自然共存共榮。 </p> <p>為了進一步勾勒出具體的將永續目標，聯合國於2015年宣布了「永續發展目標」（SDGs），從環境、經濟與社會三大面向，創造出17項目標，包括終結貧困、消除飢餓、保障健康和福祉、性別平等、確保水資源衛生、可負擔的潔淨資源、減少不平等、保育海洋與陸域生態、永續城鄉、氣候行動、多元夥伴關係等。</p> <p><br></p> <p><br></p> <p> </p>
