[…] In our 2021 joint submission with Palestinian Human Rights Organization, we talked about the impact of the settlement enterprise on the Palestinian economy. I think one World Bank study that we quoted in 2020, so it's quite old now, it would be way more drastic now, they said that the boost to the Palestinian economy, if Israel's illegal settlement enterprise was not... present would be 16.5 billion dollars which would translate to 35 percent of its GDP so the settlement enterprise exists um to suffocate and exploit Palestinians and their natural resources water quarries etc all of this it's not just you know people often think settlements are just like no monopoly type houses on hilltops no it's quarries it's it's It's the appropriation of Palestinian water, which forms an element of apartheid because if you look at the distribution of water to Israeli settlements and to Palestinian villages, which could be around or across the West Bank, it's remarkable.
