Every owner of every property currently on the market with a salesperson wants to know what's going on with their campaign. They want to be well-informed. At the same time, there is always a lot to do in real estate and we need to be smart about how we use our time.
So how do we strike the right balance? How do we ensure vendors feel positive about their experience working with us so they become clients for life and refer us to family and friends?
In my experience, the key thing owners want to feel is confidence in your commitment to get the job done, and confidence there is a plan in place they can believe in to get their home sold. You don't need to call them every day to instil that confidence, but you do need to contact them at key times during the campaign to maintain it.

How to set boundaries and protect your mental health
Real estate will take whatever space you let it take. If you don't carve out and protect time for the people you love, your partner, your kids, your family, your friends, those relationships suffer. And it's not only the time that needs protecting, it's your attention. You can be home for dinner and still not really be there if your phone's going the whole time, or if you know you've got a viewing at 6.30 and your head's already on the next job.
That's why this matters. Not so you achieve less or care less about your clients, but so you can build a real estate business that's actually sustainable, and still protect the relationships that matter most to you. That takes a mindset shift first, then a handful of rules to back it up.
