Why do I want a 5-Pack Spindle and not a 3-Pack?

Watch an explanation of the Browning 5-Pack & 6-Pack Upgrades for a knee mill Bridgeport spindle, including how they compare to the standard 3-Pack (3 bearing) design. Bill Murphy of C & M Precision Spindle illustrates the key differences between each upgrade, including who should consider the upgrade, when it's the optimal time to get the upgrade, and why someone would prefer one upgrade over the other. Key points of discussion include how more bearings affect the spindle’s cutting precision, overall lifespan, and efficiency. Also included in the video are helpful tips about bearings, spindle care, and the origins of the Browning name in the 5-Pack/6-Pack Upgrade. For more information about the Browning 5-Pack/6-Pack Upgrade, including estimates and how to ship your spindle, please visit our website: https://www.cm-spindle.com/spindle-services/spindle-upgrades/3-pack-5-pack-6-pack-upgrades/

Dialing in the Back of a Spindle Shaft

See how to dial in the back of a spindle shaft in order to stop unacceptable run out using a spring punch. Bill Murphy of C & M Precision Spindle goes over a less common but helpful process of dialing in the back of a precision spindle, in this case a Matsuura 20,000 RPM. He uses a spring punch to take stress out in the nut (here a KTM-12). Stress can build up in nuts on the threads since they are helical planes.
