RIPEC Report: Where's the Teacher Voice?

RIPEC Report: Where's the Teacher Voice? Larry, Mary, Stephanie, and guest Patrick Crowley discuss the newly-released education report from the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council. On behalf of our 12,000 members including active K-12 classroom teachers, education support professionals and paraprofessionals, we remind RIPEC of NEARI’s yearslong advocacy for many of the issues they highlighted – we have even collaborated with RIPEC and other business organizations in the recent past to address several of them. Yet RIPEC has failed to include the professional educators in this report and has omitted crucial information, like the impact of budgetary cuts and mental health needs, to better understand the full scope of the multiple crises faced by public education. We talk through their recommendations one by one and add the missing educator voice in this bonus episode of Ask Larry and Mary.

Ask Larry and Mary is a production of the National Education Association Rhode Island.
