[…] Either to exaggerate it in the case of the conservatives who've been mounting, frankly, a hysteria campaign about stuff that is never going to happen. There's not going to be a Canadian membership of the EU. We're not going to have the European Parliament running our affairs. We're not going to be paying EU taxes. It's just basically nonsense. At the same time, you've had some people saying, well, it's not going to amount to anything. We already have a free trade agreement with Europe. The Europeans don't want to go any further because they don't want to give access to the European market to countries that aren't actually members because then you kind of create perverse incentives for countries to do a Brexit and then reapply for readmission or free access on different terms.
