This Local Company Started From the Core Belief That Humanity Finds Purpose Through Generosity
On today’s edition of The Atlanta Small Business Show we welcome Blake Canterbury, Founder of Purposity, an Atlanta-based not-for-profit that allows its users to connect with members of their community who are in need. Blake and Purposity have been featured in Forbes, People Magazine, the AJC, on The Today Show, and the TEDx stage. The story of Purposity begin when Blake, at the time, was working for an agency in Atlanta and received an email from a homeless liaison asking if he could help develop a tech solution to help children in need at a local school. He did and his first attempt was successful. At that, he realized that there was a problem that needed to be solved and not just for that one school. After conducting research, Blake knew he was on to something and Purposity came to life. Purposity works in the form of an app that can be download readily by anyone wanting to help. As described on their website, Purposity comes from the core belief that humanity finds purpose through generosity. School systems and non-profits in local communities inform Blake and his team of needs in their area. They spread the word to individuals near them who are willing to help. They click a link, see the need, and make a difference for someone in their community. It may be the family next door who lost their home in a fire or the child down the street who you didn’t know needed school supplies. In this segment Jim dives into the startup and continued growth of Purposity with Blake. Tune-in to find out where the company is today, why they choose to develop this as an app, community support they received in their startup, did they secure any funding and where that came from, the impact COVID-19 has had on the company, plans for the future, and to wrap things up, where Blake finds his passion that propels Purposity forward. https://www.myasbn.com/small-business-headlines/this-local-company-started-from-the-core-belief-that-humanity-finds-purpose-through-generosity/
