Klammheimlich hat Commodore die C64-Produktion umgestellt und sich vom Brotkastengehäuse - dem VW Käfer der Heimcomputer - verabschiedet und bringt mit dem C64c eine äußerlich modernisierte Variante des Kultrechners auf den Markt, gebundelt mit der grafischen Benutzeroberfläche GEOS. Parallel kommt der Amiga mit Kampfpreis auf den deutschen Markt und wird mit Hilfe (endlich?) des Sidecar PC-kompatibel. 05/86: Strahlenangst in Deutschland
Am 25. April 1986 kam es im Kernkraftwerk Tschernobyl zur Kernschmelze, wodurch große Mengen radioaktiver Strahlung freigesetzt wurden. Die Katastrophe war in den folgenden Wochen DAS Thema in Gesprächen und der Presse. Im Computerbereich werden derweil neue Hardware und neue Betriebssyteme für den Atari ST angekündigt und Commodore stellt einen PC-AT vor.
