Podcast Overview

The Back to Nature Podcast, is hosted by Maddie Rubin, a musician, artist, and writer, whose primary inspiration comes from nature. Fascinated by the ways modern societal structures destroy nature's ecosystems, and our individual and collective role in that destruction, Maddie has been exploring a low waste lifestyle since 2017, diverting 90% of her waste from landfills. It is her belief that the separateness from nature that we experience is an illusion, and that in reality we are deeply interconnected with the earth and each other. We must awaken to this reality so we can shift our modern lifestyle away from a consumer mindset that harms life on earth, toward a more loving and compassionate society that seeks to support all life. This podcast explores topics that are in alignment with this holistic worldview, and facilitates conversations with experts on subjects anywhere from sustainability, to history, to spirituality and beyond.

Episode 2 - Shadow Work with Sacha Bryce

Episode 2: Shadow Work with Sacha Bryce I was joined for this episode by the amazing Sacha Bryce, a holistic therapist from Toronto, Canada, who specializes in yoga therapy and EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique. Her primary focus is helping stuck energy in the body to flow freely, helping heal the affects of trauma on the body. She fearlessly got vulnerable with me about her healing journey, and I shared how Shadow Work propelled me on an intense healing journey of my own. For those who don't know the term, Shadow Work is the practice of consciously connecting with the repressed parts of ourselves that we deem unworthy, fractured away during childhood, and in moments when we received negative external feedback about ourselves. These parts of us live in our unconscious, our shadow, and can run our lives in ways we don't intend, exhibiting symptoms such as depression, anxiety, self loathing, intense anger, and aggression. In Shadow Work, we call these parts of us forth to be examined and integrated into our psyches with loving awareness and self compassion. It it is my hope that this episode can help anyone going through a difficult time right now, who is suffering and doesn't know what to do. You are not alone.
