Podcast Overview

Baltimore Legacy Voices is an oral history and archival initiative from the Greenmount West Community Center Foundation. Originally, our goal was to use podcasting as a tool to engage more deeply with the seniors residing in Greenmount West, many of whom reported increased feelings of alienation and isolation as a result of COVID-19. In our conversations, we found that the knowledge our seniors hold is vast, especially regarding their lived experiences in Baltimore City.

Hosts Kennedy McDaniel and Akilah McCrorey, two women born and reared in Baltimore, are well-aware of the dominant narrative regarding the city they call home. With Baltimore Legacy Voices, they hope to shed light on a different perspective and amplify the voices of elders who have spent decades, if not entire lifetimes, as Baltimore City residents.
