The Voice: A Schizophrenic experience
In this episode, our guest Yonis shares his battles with this Voice inside his head. In the early years, the Voice was a companion, but as Yonis got older, it wanted to take over, and containing it became more challenging. Throughout the episode, Yonis goes into detail about how he was eventually diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective disorder. Schizophrenia is a chronic, severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, acts, expresses emotions, perceives reality, and relates to others. Though Schizophrenia isn't as common as other major mental illnesses, it can be the most chronic and disabling. Who are we?
In this episode, we have Abdurahman from Canada discussing History, tribes, and identity. Abdurahman is a poet and student and runs an excellent Instagram page called pisforpoeticinspiired. Poeticinspired is a Digital platform That seeks to maintain protect the Islamic heritage, resilience, historical importance, and cultural traditions of the people of the Swahili coast as well as those in the Somali region, particularly the agrarian communities from the banks of the Shabelle & Juba River - As we aim to break the misformation, by challenging the stories of today that have been formed by a distorted perspective from the past while celebrating the countless excellence stories within our communities here in the diaspora as well as those in Back-home.
