Podcast Overview

Welcome to Bardo Blues, a podcast where poetry, prose, and song meet at the crossroads of chaos and creation. For in a world on fire - something wants to sing. In this liminal space between worlds, we explore the unseen forces shaping our time, the aspirations stirring beneath the crumbling weight of modernity, and the aching heart of samsara. Each episode invites you to pause, listen, and feel the presence of a world longing to be born, even as another fades away. Listen by with the sonorous Jampa - a recovering rat racer and Rationalist who is now a Metamodern Milarepa wanna be. He is still a fool, but we are all in a time between worlds. A time between new stories and new games. A time between new hearts-minds and paradigms. And so we journey together through the Bardo — a space where uncertainty and beauty dance, and where something greater is always whispering. May this offering nourish your heart and open your being to the deeper truths of our shared experience. ☠️ When Aliveness Kills Devotion ~ When Dead Prayers Dance 🔥

I have painfully stumbled into a paradox of sorts.

What if “follow what feels alive” is quietly killing the art of devotion?

Yeah, it has its wisdom—beautiful even. But what happens when your practice feels dry, hollow, or dead? Do you quit? Go find something sexier—an ecstatic dance, a kink fest, a new shiny path?

This episode of Bardo Blues plays in that paradox: the wisdom of following resonance and the shadow it can cast, turning the spiritual path into a comfort-first lifestyle.

I riff on this shadow of contemporary spirituality, then drop into the poem When Dead Prayers Dance —a love letter to the crucible of devotion.

Feel free to listen to this Bardo Blues with most Podcast Apps or paste this RSS feed into your Podcast Player: https://api.substack.com/feed/podcast/242204.rss

Dedication

May this nourish us all –somehow someway– to the non-dual heart.

Caked in ash, mud, and kettle-chips,

Jampa James Alfieri

For those that prefer reading poetry, the poem only (no intro) is below.

https://bardoblues.substack.com/p/when-dead-prayers-dance

MUSIC CREDITS

Thanks to Peter Barbaix via Pixabay. 🌞 Surya Sings to the Dark

When the darkest nights burn, somehow faith can shine. In the void of voids, we sing along with the Hindu God Surya. In Hindu mythology the primordial mother of all mothers - the goddess Aditi has celestial children known as the Ādityas. Among them, Surya, the Sun God, is the most well-known. And so inspired by our degenerate times, we explore his cosmic struggle. Enjoy!Dedicated to the cosmic union of AR + LH 2025.

MUSIC CREDITS

Music by Samuel F.
