Episode 6 - Lost Planet of the Gods (part 2) - Battlestar Galactica (1978)
<p>[Re-uploaded after falling foul of the disco police]</p><p>Oh no, Katie's totally gone with the end of this. She's still crying now, days after recording. Just wait till War of the Gods. We'd better top up the tissues for that one. This one has so much, we get "sealings" i.e. weddings, Egypt, Baltar double treble quadruple crossing, and of course, one of the most heartbreaking scenes in Sci-fi. Poor Boxey, poor Muffit. </p><p>We end the pod with a few minutes on the space disco singers from Carillon - who they were, where they come from and the background of the song. To prepare for this, we had to spend an hour watching space disco. <p>After the barn storming pilot/movie/film/whatever of Saga of a Star World we are straight into the monster two-parter of Lost Planet of the Gods. This one is brilliant, and because it has everything, Katie kindly gives us a quick primer of Ancient Aliens and the Mormon religion so we are armed and ready to spot all the tropes.</p><p>Katie also gives us her reaction to the controversial 'sexy' scene of the female pilots, all the men get COVID, they've sown the head back on Baltar, Adama touches his medallion a bit too often, and there's a rubbish party to send Apollo off to the apparent utter doom of being married.</p><p>What happens when someone who's never seen classic 70s sci-fi watches it with their other half who's a total geek for it? <p>Colin apologises. He got Battlestar wrong in the first two proper episodes - so there's a grovelling apology. Or we blame the beer, one of the two.</p><p>We finally find out what happened to the screamy woman in the lift with feathers in her hair (no spoilers now!). Carrilon blows up because, of course, the Death Star did.
