<p>Who benefitted from Affirmative Action during the New Deal? Primarily White Americans and the definition of “White” was expanded to include impoverished immigrant communities such as Irish and Italian Americans. This changed after the Civil Rights Era when affirmative action programs started to benefit Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Thereafter, affirmative action programs were mismanaged, demonized and became less effective at pulling poor Americans into the middle class.. </p>

Insurrection is not Free Speech: criminals will not Mussolini their way into U.S. Democracy
<p>The January 6, 2020 insurrection led by President Trump is not protected by the Constitution. Free Speech has limits, especially when it expresses hate for other people. There's some question as to how many lies you can tell about the government and public figures and still be protected by speech. However, lies about current events are not protected by free speech. Telling an angry, armed crowd to storm the capital is not free speech, especially if that crowd actually does it. These are crimes. We have laws about them. I know it's unusual for white Americans to expect the law to penalize them but its really important that we make an example of them before they do it again. Hitler's free speech and Mousilini's free speech led to genocidal authoritarian governments... that didn't have the best economies. Let's save our democracy and our economy by penalizing the insurrectionists intent on destroying them.</p>
