Ancient Conspiracies Podcast explores conspiracy theories, forbidden knowledge, lost civilizations, and ancient mysteries said to be erased from history. Each episode investigates forbidden archaeology, ancient gods, alien contact, and hidden evidence that challenges the official narrative. Through a structured, documentary-style approach, the podcast examines what early civilizations may have understood—and what knowledge may have been lost, suppressed, or deliberately ignored.

The Psychedelic Bible Conspiracy: Were Ancient Religious Visions Drug-Induced?
In a museum-preserved limestone altar from the Iron Age shrine at Tel Arad, researchers identified compounds associated with cannabis. On a neighboring altar, they found evidence consistent with frankincense. Published in 2020, the findings supplied direct archaeological evidence that cannabis-associated material was burned in at least one Judahite sacred setting around the eighth century BCE.
That discovery revived a much older modern argument. In 1970, former Dead Sea Scrolls scholar John Marco Allegro claimed that Christianity had preserved the coded language of a mushroom-centered fertility cult. His book, The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross, became famous far beyond academic circles and was strongly criticized for its linguistic method and sweeping historical conclusions.
This episode follows the chain from Tel Arad’s excavated shrine, through biblical accounts of incense, smoke, Isaiah’s temple vision, and Ezekiel’s vision in exile, to Allegro’s controversial theory and the laboratory analysis that changed one part of the debate. Did ancient religious specialists use cannabis to create altered states? Did later authorities conceal that practice? Or does the evidence reveal a narrower reality: a real ritual use of cannabis at one sanctuary, with no surviving record of what its participants experienced or believed?
The altar can identify a substance. It cannot recover an ancient state of mind.

The Ancient Stargate Theory: Why Do Myths Around the World Describe Portals?
Ancient Mesopotamian tablets describe the goddess Inana passing through seven gates into the netherworld. Greek and Roman writers placed entrances to Hades at caves, lakes, fissures, and sanctuaries. At Hierapolis in modern Türkiye, an actual sanctuary stood beside a gas-emitting opening associated with Pluto, ruler of the dead. These surviving texts and sites form the foundation of a modern claim: that ancient “gates” were technological portals, perhaps used by nonhuman visitors, and that governments or scholars now conceal their locations.
This episode follows the evidence from cuneiform tablets to the Ploutonion at Hierapolis, from Strabo’s account of lethal vapors to the disputed traditions surrounding Tainaron in Greece. It also examines a documented modern online narrative linking the Anunnaki, ancient religious texts, and hidden stargates.
The strongest case for the theory rests on recurring stories of thresholds between worlds and real places ancient people considered dangerous or sacred. The strongest competing explanation is that these were religious landscapes and literary images: ways of describing death, divine power, ritual boundaries, and the unknown beneath the earth. No securely excavated machine, technical instruction, or independent record establishes a functioning ancient portal. But the question remains: when ancient people called a place a gate to another world, what did they believe stood beyond it?

Anu: Who Was the Father of the Anunnaki?
A Babylonian creation epic preserves a striking declaration of authority: Marduk’s word is made to prevail over the Anunnaki. To readers influenced by ancient-astronaut theories, the scene can appear to describe a hierarchy of powerful nonhuman beings connected to heaven, descent, and an ancestral figure called Anu.
This episode follows that possibility into the surviving cuneiform record. Anu, or An, was a major Mesopotamian sky god associated with high divine status. The Anunna or Anunnaki were a collective of gods whose membership and roles shift across languages, periods, and literary settings. In the Sumerian Inana’s Descent, Anunna figures act as judges in an underworld episode. In the Babylonian Enuma Elish, Marduk is elevated above a divine assembly that includes the Anunnaki.
The investigation also traces the modern reinterpretation popularized by Zecharia Sitchin’s 1976 book The 12th Planet. Why do stories of gods coming from heaven feel like possible records of visitors from elsewhere? What do the surviving texts actually say? And where does the evidence stop?
