Can You Really Know You're Saved?

When did you become a Christian? For some, the answer is a specific moment of conversion. For others, the story is more complicated. And even after coming to faith, many Christians find themselves wondering: If I'm really saved, why do I still struggle with sin? Am I growing enough? How can I know that God won't give up on me? In this episode, Kendra and Kyler share their own stories of coming to faith and explore how the theology of salvation speaks to some of our most personal questions about the Christian life. Together, they discuss: Why our testimonies don't need to be dramatic to be powerful How God works through both defining moments and ordinary experiences to draw us to Himself What theologians mean by the ordo salutis (order of salvation) How Romans 8 reveals God's work in salvation from beginning to end What regeneration, justification, adoption, sanctification, and glorification mean for believers Why understanding justification frees us from trying to earn God's approval How to understand Paul's command to "work out your salvation" when salvation is entirely God's work Why sanctification is often a messy, lifelong process What to do when persistent sin or a lack of visible growth makes us question our salvation How spiritual disciplines and the ordinary means of grace help cultivate assurance Why God's promise to finish what He started gives us humility, confidence, freedom to pursue obedience, and hope Salvation isn't simply something that happened in the past. It's something God has accomplished in Christ, is working out in us by His Spirit, and promises to bring to completion. Understanding that changes everything. We don't have to look to our performance to prove that we belong to Christ. We can look to His finished work, trusting that the God who called us to Himself will never abandon the work of His hands. Mentioned on the Show Next Step: Take some time this week to reflect on your own story of salvation. Whether you can identify a specific moment when you came to faith or your story has unfolded more gradually, consider: Looking back: Where can you see evidence of God's grace in drawing you to Himself? How does understanding salvation as God's work reshape the way you tell your story? Looking at the present: Where are you tempted to measure your standing with God by your performance or spiritual progress? How might the distinction between justification and sanctification change the way you respond to your struggles? Looking forward: What would it look like to trust God's promise to complete the work He has begun in you? Consider sharing your reflections with a friend. Practice telling your testimony in a way that highlights not just what has changed in your life, but what God has done—and continues to do—through Christ. Key Scriptures Romans 8, especially verses 28–39 Philippians 2:12–13 Ephesians 2:1–10 Philippians 1:6 2 Peter 1:5–11 Romans 7 Luke 7:36–50 1 John 3:2 Don’t forget to submit a question for an upcoming Q&A episode using this form. What's Forming You? A Discipleship Check-In

Every episode of Christ In You begins with the question, “What’s forming you?” This time, that question becomes the whole conversation. Kendra and Kyler use Redeemer’s discipleship framework—living out God’s Word, experiencing heart renewal, and investing in others—to take an honest inventory of how God is at work in their lives right now. Together, they discuss: What Romans 7 is teaching Kyler about sin, grace, and the freedom to repent What Kendra is learning from Esther about God’s providence and grace toward imperfect people Why Christian maturity doesn’t mean outgrowing our need for repentance How comparison can expose what our hearts are really valuing How the 3 Rs help us move from heart exposure through repentance to rejoicing in Christ Why reflection and anticipation can help us respond faithfully rather than simply react How Sabbath and margin create space to pay attention to God and others What investing in others looks like in ordinary places like kids’ sports, friendships, and around the dinner table Why sharing the gospel begins with genuinely knowing and loving the person in front of us How God can be at work in relationships long before we recognize what He is doing Why discipleship is something we practice in community, not just something we evaluate on our own Spiritual formation isn’t only happening in Bible studies, church programs, or obvious moments of growth. God is at work in ordinary conversations, hidden heart struggles, unfinished work, unexpected opportunities, and relationships that unfold slowly over time. This episode is an invitation to pay attention: Where is God meeting you in His Word? Where is He renewing your heart? Where is He inviting you to invest in someone else? And what might you notice if you asked those questions with someone who knows you well? Mentioned on the Show Next Step: Have your own discipleship check-in with a friend this week. Use Redeemer’s discipleship triangle as a framework and ask one another: Live Out God’s Word: How has the Lord been meeting you in His Word lately? What is He teaching you that you’re learning to live out? Experience Heart Renewal: What has God been revealing about your heart? Where is He leading you toward repentance and helping you rejoice again in the gospel? Invest in Others: Who has God placed in front of you to know, love, serve, or share your faith with? Where might He be inviting you to make more room for another person? And don’t forget to submit a question for an upcoming Q&A episode using this form. What Can the Church Learn from Gen Z? with Sea Choi and Sam Collins

Every generation encounters the same gospel in a different cultural context. So what does it look like to understand, love, and learn from the next generation of Christ followers? In this episode, Kyler is joined by Campus Outreach staff Sam Collins and Sea Choi to talk about the world Gen Z is navigating—and what an intergenerational church can learn from listening well. Together, they discuss: What gives them hope about Gen Z How social media, COVID, and secularization have shaped the world younger Christians inhabit Why Gen Z’s desire for authenticity can create opportunities for meaningful gospel conversations How the gospel speaks to deep longings for identity, belonging, justice, and stability Why relationships matter when sharing the gospel in a culture saturated with information What older generations may misunderstand about younger Christians Why younger Christians need more than advice or expertise from those ahead of them How honesty about our own weakness can point others toward grace What older generations can learn from Gen Z’s energy, questions, and willingness to believe change is possible Why intergenerational relationships are essential to the life of the church Practical ways Christians of different ages and stages can begin building relationships with one another The cultural context may change from generation to generation, but our deepest needs—and the gospel that answers them—do not. An intergenerational church gives us the opportunity to commend God’s works from one generation to another: offering younger believers stability, wisdom, and an embodied picture of long-term faithfulness while receiving their questions, energy, perspective, and faith in return. Mentioned on the Show Next Step: This Sunday, intentionally connect with someone from a different generation or stage of life. Learn their name and ask a real question. Consider inviting someone younger or older into your ordinary life—over a meal, into your home, or simply into a deeper conversation. Rather than thinking only about what you have to offer another generation, ask: What might I have to learn from them? How could this relationship help both of us grow toward maturity in Christ?
